Dr. Dean rocked this morning
Edited on Thu Oct-26-06 08:48 AM by Patiod
Diane Sawyer was doing a half-hearted interview using the usual Republican talking points: "Dems don't have a plan in Iraq - in fact Dems disagree on the exact timetable" (followed by clips of Dems with different pull-out strategies)" "Nancy Pelosi won't impeach - is this a promise?"

Dean ROCKED. He stayed tough and on message.

However we do it, we've got to get out of Iraq, but the timing is up to Bush, not us.

And here's the "First 100 Hours" plan, point by point.

I was a "Deaniac" early on, and I think he found his best purpose for now: as one of the few Dems who can get on TV and stay focused and on- message, getting the points across without sounding either shrill or defensive. I know a lot of people in the Democratic party though Dean was too radical for leadership, but he's really proving the doubters wrong. About time we found a spokesman who proves how tough Dems can be.

1. I think you said it exactly right - Dean stays on message without
sounding shrill or defensive. He THINKS on his feet and his responses are firm. So, so, so contrary to the *myth* of the Dean scream...

9. He keeps getting better ...
I have seen a progression over the last year and a half ... At first, he seemed to be caught off balance in the way he got attacked (or questioned by a "unbiased" MSMer), then seemed to get a feel for dealing with it ...

I like him plenty ... He is an intelligent, decent and honorable man ...

2. I wasn't all that impressed
which is unusual since I usually find Dean to be very engaging and a great speaker. I thought he looked uncomfrtable today

3. agree
IMO Dean has looked like he has his back to the ropes lately, for no apparent reason. This is the time when he should be moving in for the kill.

5. I think the reason he looks like that is he's facing incoming from GOP and
Dem establishment who are targeting him.

11. Disagree
He refused to let her interrupt him, he finished each point. I thought it was well done.

6. Yeah, normally Dean does
This isn't about if I like dems on tv or not, it's about me watching Dean on tv with a very lame Diane Sawyer and not impressing me. Tough nuts to that.

8. Excellent interview....VIDEO...judge for yourself
http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=2607527

Judge for yourself. When someone jumps into a thread to criticize an interview, I try to find the video...here you go.

This looks like he was at the DNC bldg...but he is due in CA later to rally with Angelides..

3 states in 3 days last week from Oregon to CT.

He did a very good job keeping on his thoughts while she was doing everything she could to spin for Bush and the GOP.

10. Thanks for posting that, madfloridian
That way, folks can judge for themselves.

I'm just so freaking happy to hear a Dem staying ON MESSAGE and sticking to the talking points that we know Americans want to hear -- get out of Iraq, fix healthcare, raise the minimum wage -- that I don't care if he was standing on one leg patting his head and rubbing his stomach while he was saying it.

12. It was a good interview.
I saw the remarks that did not go along with what I had seen, and it irritated me.
