Stupid White Men Revel in Their Own Bigotry ---pix--->>>

What are they so freaking GLEEFUL about?

2. There's probably a large payoff in it somewhere for them. That's the only
reason Republicans smile. Oh, wait, except when they get to hurt people, so maybe it's that, instead. Or both.

3. There are different reasons for supporting a fence.

And yes, some of them involve prejudice, but also economics and security.

I for one would like to see a more secure southern border and it has nothing to do with prejudice.

When do we build the fence across the Canadian border?

16. You're welcome to build one.
If you had a fire in your home that started in a bedroom, would you rant at the firefighters for not hosing down ALL the rooms instead of just the bedroom where the fire was? Would you call them sex-obsessed just because they focused on the bedroom?

The utter idiocy of this fallacious rhetoric is really over the line.
Pretty soon folks will be called racists if they don't like burritos.

22. You put that so well.
I've seen alot of your posts where you put things so eloquently. I wish I had that gift. I tried to bring this up in another thread and it didn't go very well -- now if I had your eloquence maybe I'd have got my point across instead of starting a flame war. :)

24. Thanks. I'm sure not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but ...

... the apparent absence of critical thinking skills and basic logic in so many of the posts on DU is really appalling - almost as appalling as the nearly total failure to appreciate the intellectual dishonesty of such fallacies when pointed out. Strawman and ad hominem fallacies abound on DU.

While I sometimes agree with the conclusions, I'm stunned at the invalidity of the route to those conclusions.

It's like saying "(some) bigots eat at McDonald's! If you eat at McDonald's, you're a bigot!" Fucking hogwash.
It's just like saying "Jack In The Box employs Hispanics. If you don't eat at Jack In The Box, you're a bigot!" More fucking hogwash.

I oppose the appropriations for a border wall ... but I sure don't paint it as racist. I strongly believe that comprehensive and draconian sanctions of those who employ illegal migrants are called for. The evidence of deliberate abuse is overwhelming. The claim of "we didn't know" is completely without merit. The corporatist right-wing avoidance of enforcing the laws on crony corporations is beyond question. I'd personally like to see prison time not only for the more egregious violators but for those corrupt politicians who've backed off on enforcement.

13. Yes
I'm new, so I don't know if it's just board comedy/inside jokes, but I think often people do a disservice to understanding the political motives of republicans when the default answer for understanding why anyone could support a republican issue is that they are either a) profiting financially, b) biggoted, or c) stupid.

To the issue, sure I would like to have fewer ILLEGAL immigrants, but it would not rank in the top 20 of imporant issues to me, and even if it ddi, I think a giant fence really sends the wrong message to everyone.

23. Hey, my ancestors didn't
climb into a tiny boat 200 years ago and brave an ocean to live in a country that would build a freaking fence!
Border security. Fine. But a FENCE? How about a Chinese wall? A moat with dragons?
This is medieval. Get out the boiling oil.
And take down Lady Liberty from our harbor. Clearly, her message is no longer meaningful.
Not with a freakin' American fence guarding our feudal land.
Although I guess your castle wall is appropriate - considering we already have a king.

12. I can never get over how nasty Bush's teeth are.
Yellow, stained, crooked...

YUCK!

Condi has bad teeth, too.

So does Cheney.

Hmmm...I see a pattern developing.

There are so many things that can be done these days to correct bad teeth, I'm surprised none of these people have done anything. But then again, they don't smile often so maybe it doesn't matter to them. :)
