Bush's Illegal, Warrantless Spying Changed Everything. |

It's a different world since 9/11 when Americans overwhelmingly depended on him to protect us and uphold the laws of the Nation in a time of insecurity. The American people trusted him to adher to the Constitution.
But now after several years have passed since 9/11, learning that Bush ordered the NSA to engage in illegal, warrantless wiretapping of American citizens has changed everything.
We now realize that we cannot depend on Bush to protect us and uphold the laws of the Nation in a time of insecurity. Rather, we now know that Bush will use incidents of National Insecurity as a tool to manipulate us and as a means of amassing more power for himself.
We now understand that we cannot trust Bush to adher to the Constitution as he swore he would do when taking office. He will ignore the Constitution and Congress at will and use our fear and insecurity against us.
Bush's illegal, warrantless spying changed everything.

1. it did not really change anything |
|
what it did was make the American people aware of what is going on and they don't like this kind of thing, doesn't matter what the political affiliation is - spying on your own citizens is disgusting and unforgiveable. And on top of that, their spying on our fellow citizens has yielded nothing, absolutely nothing.
That money used for spying could have been spent in many other ways. Like fixing many things. Healthcare is just one item on the list of many. But oh no, better off spying on your own people rather than care for them. :puke:
I knew that this would be the frosting on the already baked cake. So now the cake is done.

2. Well, before the story broke Americans were unaware of what was going on |
|
and largely trusted Bush on Security issues.
The story broke and now Americans ARE aware of the spying and no longer have a valid reason to trust Bush on Security issues.
And the importance of making this point is, Bush's defence regarding the illegal syping is "trust me".

They have been spying on US citizens for years. We need to look back at history to see where they got the control to pull this kind of stuff off. The worst thing for us now is the telecommunication acts which started in the 90's and where signed by then president Clinton. They have given the Government the tools it needs to wage a propaganda war on the American people. I stand for the ideals of the democratic party but am very leery of the people running it now.
