Matt Lauer: Colossal Douchebag

And now for a little rant of my own:

Since when must a person with a devastating, terminal disease be "held accountable" for attempting, through perfectly legal means, to gain support for research that may lead to a cure for said disease? If that person is a celebrity, and their condition has degenerated from the heart-rending to the truly difficult-to-watch, should they then remove themselves from any and all public debate about said research, or be "held up to ridicule?" Is that truly what "we're all thinking?" If it is, what a bunch of heartless scumbags "we all" are. What a bunch of half-human propagandists "we" have become; what a mooing herd of ethically deficient protectors of politically opportunistic morons "we" are, terrified by the devastating reality that is the result of "our"/their pandering to the most-delusional common denominator. If that's what "we" are, "we" are truly the scum of the fucking earth.

Here's the deal, people: there is nothing controversial about Michael J Fox, or anyone with Parkinson's, or anyone who cares about people with Parkinson's, lending their support to candidates for Congress who will vote to fund stem cell research. What IS controversial are those who would withhold such funding in order to divide the electorate and win political office, and the benefits thereof. Okay? Do you fucking get it now, Lauer?

1. Colossal is right.
Lauer is in the same class as Rush Limbaugh. Both are pretty mean-spirited little GOP Nazis.

2. Yes, I just wrote to the Today Show and expressed my outrage.
I guess Mr. Lauer will be using his top-notch journalistic, interviewing skills to grill and skewer Michael J. Fox on an upcoming show.

Here's the guy who shows off his Healthy, stead-fast physique to the president --- that's gotta count for something.

3. Limbaugh is a skid mark on the jockey shorts of Amurka
and Lauer is a bacterium feeding on that skid mark.

... is, imho, a seriously disturbed one. Thus, I have a profound disagreement with using "douchebag" as an epithet. I prefer to regard such people as hemorrhoids on the rectum of America. Rush, of course, is an anal cyst.

6. Thanks. Sent off my email to the Today Show.
Lauer is a POS

You need to invite Michael J. Fox on your show and have Lauer formally apologize to him, to his face and to the nation. You people ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

8. Douchebags, All of them!
What the Today Show needs to do is have Mr. Fox on their show and ask him straight up. Fox seems like a very personable guy so why not simply ask him instead of sounding like a dick on tv? Oh right...he might actually not be faking it and then you'd really look like an asshole.

Fuck the TV. Turn it off. Unplug it.

10. Is 'douche bag' a curse?
I swore 37 times in the last month. I said the 'f-word' a couple of times, but it was mostly 'shit's and 'bastard's. Is 'douche bag' a curse?

----I suppose it would depend on its usage.

How about "Matt Lauer, you're a colossal douche bag for dissing Michael J Fox"?

-----It's a curse.

Oh, well then it's not 37 times it's 71 times.

11. He used to host a really scummy talk show on local TV
It was on WOR in New York, and it was one of those shows that exploited people's personal miseries for the entertainment of the audience.

I remember watching him and thinking what a scumbag he was then. So I was surprised when he moved up to the ranks of hosting one of the major network shows.

But I guess in retrospect I shouldn't have been surprised. He wasn;t raised up -- Rather network TV was dragged down.

13. Lauer is a hypocrite
If Fox should be held accountable, how about candidates who pose with babies, senior citizens, the handicapped, law enforcement officers, first responders, football jocks, et al?? The Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Maryland is also the head of the Governor's Office for Disabilities and uses her cane in her commercials. Should she be held accountable for playing on the sympathies of the public as well? This is utter neofascist nonsense, but no surprise these days coming from Lauer.
