2. I did early voting yesterday
There was one weasel Democrat on the ballot, so I wrote in my cat. Otherwise, it was all Democrats. On a paper ballot. Sweet.

3. From today's Orlando Sentinel
<snip>
Early-voting turnout is strong
Posted October 26, 2006

Volusia County -- Strong turnout for early voting continued Wednesday, as 1,430 voters cast ballots at the county's four early-voting locations.

During the first three days of early voting for the general election, 4,173 people have voted. That's almost the same number of people who voted during early voting for the primary election -- 4,307.

About 19 percent of those who voted Wednesday used the new touch-screen voting machines.

Early voting ends Nov. 4. Election Day is Nov. 7.

Pedro Ruz Gutierrez, Robert Perez, Christine Dellert, Ramsey Campbell and Etan Horowitz of the Sentinel staff contributed to this report.

dems out-voting repubs by big numbers

Democrats appear to be voting more than Republicans in the first week of early voting, according to data from county clerks across the state.

Democrats made up 64 percent of early voters, compared to 57 percent of all registered voters, according to a survey of county clerks representing more than half the state’s registered voters.

Republicans were 33 percent of early voters, compared to being 30 percent of registered voters.

Independents and those from other parties were the least likely to vote early, making up only 3 percent of the early vote compared to 13 percent of registered voters.

5. I voted early too
I also wisely chose a paper ballot over a Diebold machine. I encourage everyone else to do the same, or at least demand there to be a choice between the two.
