Anyone else noticing the recent spate of "the Courts may have to |
|
decide the upcoming election" stories? MSNBC, CNN, all talking about how close races and polling place difficulties could lead to Court challenges. Now, I KNOW BushCo. is not about to surrender peacefully to the will of the voters; they've FAR too much to hide. Are election challenges going to be their sad little 'strategy'...erm, 'strategery'?

just like Washington (or was it Oregon) in 2004. Never ending challenge lawsuits by well-funded Cons for every race that is within a 7% or below margin.

3. It's going to be a VERY rough ride |

There's a thread somewhere around here this morning how just how messy and nasty this could all get. Those that are not challenged in court could be challenged by the House...with a Hastert-trained staffer, no less!
As fas as current office-holder retaining scenario...well, they'll be there until January either way. All the better to challenge through the House rules. The Cons are not going to just 'get over it'. Anything that is close is bringing a pretty scary scenario that people haven't even begun to consider, IMO.
I'll see if I can find that thread from earlier and link it. It's an informative read!

4. Repukes are burning through their money now. |
|
They are desperate because they see the oncoming tsunami. That's why they are buying so many attack ads. They literally have nothing left. Their issue stances will just drive off more voters because the Democrats own every single one of the issues, even national security. I'm not sure that they will have resources to challenge many races, especially if there are large margins in many races. At this time, prognosticators are listing more than 70 House races which are competitive!! That is likely to increase before the seventh. I heard today that 22% of polled voters said that the Foley business is going to effect their vote!!! If that's correct--Gallup, I think--it's a positively huge swing probably all in Dem's favor.
I don't see a lot of challenges happening, although there may be some in close races. As Democrats, we should take the stance that we'll do everything we can to make sure that this election is a clean one, even if it means cooperating with investigations against our own interest. That's a win-win strategy for us. (Note: I am not saying that we should fall down and let the Repukes run all over us, but we should not be seen as the party which impedes valid investigations.)
Peace.

8. And never mind the Supreme Court,-- the Bushco cabal has been |

filling ALL federal courts with RW appointees for the last six years, all those courts where most of the possible challenges will be heard.
