President Clinton! (Pics!)
We saw President Clinton this am at a rally at Albany airport for Kirsten Gillibrand (NY20). There were over 400 people in the crowd and it was thrilling to be there. You could feel the energy in the crowd and the love for a real President. Got to shake his hand! He looked great and sounded great. I still can't believe I saw him up close.

Photogirl12 will be here in a minute to post pics.

10. What a treat!
You can feel the charisma from yards away.

One of my fondest memories is seeing him, Al, Hillary and Tipper at a local high school

But you were luckier than I was - you got to shake his hand!

Thanks for the pictures, photogirl -- living up to your name!!!

25. Welcome to DU, halfmoon dem!
:hi:

If it were me that shook his hand, I would wear a glove on that hand for a couple of days. That way when people ask what's with the glove, I can tell them I shook President Clinton's hand with this hand.:)

40. The Big Dog!
Always warms my heart to see the big dog, Bill Clinton out on the stump for candidates.

I've lived in Arkansas since he was first contemplating (at least publicly) running for President. I remember being in Grad school and one of his aides came to speak to our class. He told us (1987)that Clinton wouldn't run in 88 because he knew that Bush had too good a shot at it then, but that Bush would HAVE to raise taxes and that this would destroy his chances at a second term and that would open things up for a Clinton run in 1992! Did he call it right or what?

That man is a genius and a human with flaws that are very public, but I'd still trade him for anyone on the R side of the ticket and I'd trade him for a lot of those possible candidates on the D side of the ticket.

I truly believe that some day Bill will be viewed as one of our greatest Presidents who was hamstrung by a right wing congress that tried to destroy him.

Clinton Rocks!!!!

I never really thought I would get that close to get a handshake but he reached into the crowd. Typical isn't it? * cowers in fear of real people while Bill Clinton reaches out.

Her boyfriend took the pics. He is a professional photographer too and got to stand with all the media taking pics on a grandstand. He's waiting his approval from Skinner to be a DUer too! His name is going to be HalfmoonDem so you can welcome him in advance! He's reading DU and will soon be an addict too.

20. Actually some people think
that it means two consecutive terms so it could be possible. I don't think he wants it again though, his health isn't as good and he likes making some money for a change. And he deserves that, he served in public office his whole life.

It sure would be one hell of a campaign though, the little dimson wouldn't know what hit him.

26. Well then some people are idiots
I have NEVER heard anyone suggest that the 22nd amendment means consecutive terms nor given the actual text of the amendment how anyone could even think it

Amendment XXII
1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice,
and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for
more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President
shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this
Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President, when this
Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may
be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term
within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of
President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.

2. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an
amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the
several States within seven years from the date of its submission to the States
by the Congress.

32. He definitely should
if he isn't. I don't think he is though, I remember him saying in some interview that CT was a win for the dems either way. To me it just sounded like the dems were afraid of Joe, too afraid to offend him lest he bolt the party and caucus with the gop. (Which he will likely do if he wins anyway, he's got a big debt to them now)
