N.J. gay ex-governor wants to wed partner
Opposed same-sex marriage while in office to hide his homosexuality

Updated: 11:38 a.m. ET Oct 26, 2006
TRENTON, N.J. - Former Gov. James McGreevey, who resigned after acknowledging a gay affair, said he would tie the knot with his partner if state lawmakers decide to allow gay marriage.

"Marriage would offer the ability to bless our relationship in a committed way," McGreevey, 49, told The New York Times.

McGreevey's comments followed a state Supreme Court ruling Wednesday that same-sex couples must be given the same rights as married people. The court left it up to the Legislature to decide whether to extend those rights under the structure of marriage or something else.

1. The man never met a microphone he didn't love.
James, let's let the couples who have been together 20 and 30 years enjoy the victory for a moment before you throw your two cents in.

5. I wish this creep would crawl back under his rock.
He cheated on his family. He made a mockery of his family and embarrassed his children.

This man is no hero to gays and lesbians. He is an asshole who loves the camera and attention.

He hurts gays and lesbians who live honest, decent lives and who do not cheat on their partners.

And he is hurting Democrats.

I wish this creep would just go to hell.

And you have it so correct: he's "putting himself into this debate" and at this time, of all times!

What a jerk.

6. I voted for McGreevy. Dear Mr. McGreevy: SHUT THE FUCK UP until 11/8...
It was bad enough that he was plugging his book during the run up to the Foley scandal, and now this...

Is this some 'payback' to his fellow Dem's for not sticking by him in NJ or something?

What does he think the chances are of that union being respected in other states if the Republicans maintain control of the Senate, THANKS TO HIM.

Please Mr. McGreevy, keep your future hopes to yourself for a couple of more weeks?

7. If we let him get married, will he shut up and slither away permanently?
He was a shitty, corrupt governor who didn't give a shit about gays until he was caught in a scandal and had to come out. Now he's trying to act like he's some gay rights activist.

News to McGreevey: We don't like you.

He wants to marry the dude that blackmailed him and ended his career? Something's wrong with this picture...

Apparently acquired after he left his wife and came out.

11. Well good for him then.
I'm glad to see that gay people can now get themselves into shitty, ill-thought, hasty marriages just like the rest of us. :D
