Pew Research Extensive Study: MASSIVE demographic shift in public to Democrats
http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=293

This is a big study, and it's very good news. It reminds me of all of the different categories where Democrats were bled dry by Republicans in 1994. For comparison purposes, look here:

6. excellent--voters 65+ supported the GOP in '02 46-43 now support
democrats 52-36 and by and large they vote. Independents give Dems a 16-pt edge. Women a 17-point edge. If these numbers become reality we will do very well a week from Tuesday.

7. Looks to me like they're going to have to call those "competitive districts"
something else now.

An oversample of voters in 40 competitive districts identified by a consensus of political analysts shows that voting intentions in the battleground districts are about the same as they are in the "safe" House districts. Among registered voters, the Democrats lead by 11 points in competitive districts (50%-39%) and by the same margin in safe districts (49%-38%).

Maybe safe districts? :D

9. Beautiful. And, pissed-off people vote.
Repugs who expect defeat will stay home. It's no fun to back the losing team.

11. The most inportant part:
looks like it is possible for us to pick up 75 or more house seats.

But there is a slight Democratic advantage in voting intention in the somewhat larger group of 131 districts where Kerry received between 40% to 49% of the vote in 2004: 45% of respondents in these districts say they will vote Democratic in the House race, compared with 40% saying they will vote Republican. Among respondents in the 179 districts where Kerry received half or more of the votes, the Democratic House candidate has a wide lead.

Finally realizing there is a Constitution and that it will best keep us safe, not untrammeled executive power? Finally?

23. My MIL...
has never voted in her life. She's the most apolitical person I know, and today she stopped by to tell me she registered yesterday and voted a straight Dem ticket by absentee ballot.
People have major Bush fatigue.

24. won't it be amazing when the Pukkkes somehow pull off a win anyway?
huh. But fortunately, nobody will raise a fuss about it. It just happened, that's all, No fraud. No hanky panky. Just the good ol US of A System working at its best. Just like last time. And the time before. Oh, we'll have to do something about those pesky glitches someday, I suppose.
