Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 02:05 PM by Wheezy
have not yet declared which way they will vote on Alito (as of the time of this posting).

Call and fax them!

FAX NUMBERS:

RI: Chafee(R) (202) 228-2853

ME: Collins(R) (202) 224-2693

ME: Snowe(R) (202) 224-1946

AK: Stevens(R) (202) 224-2354

PHONE NUMBERS & email:

Chafee (202) 224-2921 Web Form: chafee.senate.gov/webform.htm

Collins
(202) 224-2523 Web Form: collins.senate.gov/public/continue.cfm?FuseAction=Contact...

Snowe
(202) 224-5344 Web Form: snowe.senate.gov/contact.htm

Stevens
(202) 224-3004 Web Form: stevens.senate.gov/contact.cfm

(yes, Stevens is a lost cause, I believe, but...fwiw. Maybe the phone traffic will be enough to confuse him into voting wrong. *snerk*)

1. I hold no hope for Stevens even though culturally Alaska is a
libertarian state and most of their citizens are pro-choice. I'd like to see Chafee and the Maine Two vote "NO" but I have my doubts.

5. Tell Stevens that The Hulk wouldn't like Alito...
maybe that'll make him change his mind.

3. They're not letting you say much more than whether you support
Alito or not on the phones - call volume is too high.

7. Vote tally

With all but 4 Republicans (listed in the OP), the yesses are 53.

Senator Byrd is undecided, Lieberman just declared his No vote.

12. Byrd is speaking now on CSPAN 2
I'd heard he's still undecided as of an hour or two ago.

8. Called Olympia twice and Collins once. It sucks so bad that Chellie
Pingree couldn't knock Collins off when she ran for her seat. x(

10. I e-mailed Ted and Lisa yesterday
urging them to vote against Alito. Both of them are pro-choice, and as someone stated above, Alaskans notoriously guard their privacy rights. I placed particular emphasis on the onerousness of the "unitary executive" and urged them as senators to stand up for the co-equal status of the legislative branch.

13. Filibuster is a positive thing!! They should support it proudly.
It will be good because more Americans will take notice, talk to one another about the Constitution, and ask questions about the Constitution and the Unitary Executive. We shouldn't let Republicans portray Filibuster as Bad. Filibuster is Good for the People. Anyone who is against Filibuster is against the People.
