Look what Jim Hightower found.
How pathetic is this? Let's celebrate the good times in 2007 with a victory party. I wonder if the money could have appropriated for something, well, more appropriate?

Big news, folks! I have inside information that George W’s war in Iraq will end sometime next year – and it will end in victory for the U. S.

My information comes from a single paragraph tucked deep inside the Pentagon’s voluminous 2007 spending bill, recently passed by congress. It authorizes Bush to designate “a day of celebration” for the “commemoration of success” by our troops in Iraq. The bill also appropriates $20 million “to observe that day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.”

More here.

3. Yup....they could plan a party but they couldn't plan to
manage the aftermath of the downfall of Iraq...

2. $20 million to celebrate success?
Setting aside the notion of success, just what would they spend the $20 million on? How much rehab would that buy for an amputee?

4. Alas, it was in this year's budget as well...Bush is ever the optimist
Ugh.

This is an unwinnable war. When no one can even describe the goal and people are shooting at you a lot, you are fucked.

5. Well at this rate, they'll have 100,000 million for a party by the time the idiot
leaves office. Maybe we can give that to the troops that sustained permanent brain damage or other injuuries as a result of Bush's lies.

7. Poor little miscreant, thought he could be a "war president" instead ended
up being one of the most hated men on the planet, how amazing is that??

6. This wouldn't surprise me
Especially with the talk lately of Bush denying the whole "cut and run" thing and they're changing their tune with that. The signs are all there. I would say this would happen sometime early next year before the spring even if the democrats take back the House and/or Senate and Bush will claim the victory. I trust Mr. Hightower and he has been reliable to me personally with his information on the Bush's so I would definitely keep this in mind.

11. Actually, Keith Olbermann reported that last week.
Edited on Thu Oct-26-06 09:21 PM by Clark2008
He spoke of it during one of the special commentaries.

Hang on and I'll go find the one.

I can't seem to find it. I know it wasn't the one from Monday - it was last week. Not the one from Oct. 5 - so MSNBC is missing the transcript (or I'm not looking in the right place), but I definitely remember him talking about money set aside for a celebration that could be used for something else - because there would be no real celebration.

12. Meanwhile, our troops STILL do not have adequate armour
How about if they take the $20 million and divide it among the widows and orphans of Bush's war

15. $20 mil for celebration, but $14 mil would cover the cost of
upgrading helmets to the new webbing and foam pads to decrease brain damage from IEDs.

Gotta' have your priorities . . .

16. It may be no better a victory than the one already one
How much did Dubya's uniform and his prance around on that boat cost - the time when we won the war and it was "Mission Accomplished?"

I'm sure we will win this war at least once per year till Dubya is out of office.
