But it's very possible that Ms. Babai has been here for quite awhile as a permanent resident and had no interest in becoming a citizen until her relatives said, "Aunt Sona, please stop being so stubborn. Get your citizenship so they don't send you back to Iran where we can't take care of you! They're arresting people on suspicion!"
