Does it help, or hurt Bush?
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 02:12 PM by LaPera
Washington Post:
"Bush, whose aides said they consider the (NSA) issue a clear political winner, is resurrecting tactics from the last campaign to make the NSA spying program a referendum on which party will keep the United States safe from terrorists"

Another Rove bluff? Does this really mean they desperately want the Democrats to ignore this and stop talking about it... "Referendum"? They stole votes in precinct after precinct to keep all three branches in their republican fascist control! They will do it again and again, and why not... there's nothing to stop them. (most people still don't believe it).

Washington Post:
"In a pep talk yesterday to intelligence experts at the National Security Agency, President Bush defended eavesdropping on overseas communications to and from U.S. residents as legal and imperative to stopping terrorists."

Isn't the real issue, Bush himself, who admittedly broke the law, it has very little to do with "overseas phone calls" its about spying on the American people, invading people's privacy inside of the US... including Democrats and everyone else they deem suspect on their political hit lists.

Bush & Cheney know they are pretty much un-impeachable, only the most dreaming optimist thinks otherwise...

The NSA wiretaps has changed the lead story each day, focusing instead on Bush doing "anything and everything" he can to stop the "terrorist", and best of all for BushCo, it promotes more fear in the American people... letting everyone know they are being watched and listened to...

The Abramoff scandal, DeLay scandal, Libby & Rove (Plame) scandal, Frist scandal, all take a back seat to the NSA story, Rove has made it into Bush fighting terrorism, anyway he can story. Shit, even Iraq, Iran, bin Laden, Hussein, are second page news, in favor of the NSA story, Not to mention real important stories & issues...like health care, Social Security, education, minimum wage, jobs, gas prices, environmental erosions, a stagnate economy...While all the real issues will get only a passing glance in next weeks, State of the Union address...The NSA will get prominent exposure for Bush though.

Finally, the bullshit announcement that they are going to investigate who leaked the NSA story, (even though it was coming out in a number of books anyway). But the announcement does help to discourage any potential whistle-blowers, who may want to expose any truths about BushCo, that they will indeed be dealt with harshly!

It hard not to see that Rove has somewhat turned the NSA story into Bush's favor.

1. Of course Rove is trying to turn this into a positive story~
THAT's his job! When the hearings start, all that might change! The Dems MUST keep hammering the statement that "Spying on potential enemies is FINE!" as long as it's done by the LAW! It's time WE start repeating "This is a Country of LAWS!" "NOBODY is ABOVE THE LAW!"

The Dems can beat Rove at his own game!!!!
