Another Pa. House Repub in trouble: Melissa Hart

This was completely unexpected. She was a local darling. But it's a Dem district by registration and she is sinking:

"Democratic challenger Jason Altmire is nearly even with Republican U.S. Rep. Melissa Hart in the race for the 4th Congressional District, according to a new Pittsburgh Tribune-Review opinion poll.

"The poll of 400 likely voters, conducted over the weekend by Susquehanna Polling & Research in Harrisburg, shows three-term incumbent Hart leading Altmire by 4 percentage points -- 46 percent to 42 percent. The margin of error is 4.9 percent. Eleven percent were undecided, and 1 percent said they wouldn't vote for either candidate.....

"While Hart has called herself an independent voice in Washington, Altmire's efforts to link her to Bush and Santorum seem to be gaining traction. The campaign is being watched nationally as several contentious races put Republicans' control of the House at risk.

"Altmire said he was pleased to have held his ground despite an influx of national party support for Hart.

"Both she and the national Republicans have been pounding on me for the past couple of weeks, and I'm still within the margin of error," he said. "I'm very optimistic."
