It's all about "us" and "them."
Unfortunately, "they" have the upper hand in defining those terms, and "they" are not human. Indeed, they are not even living beings. They are monsters, golems, automatons. And they rule our world. They put up smoke, mirrors and worse to maintain the illusions that blind us to our own reality.

They "own" the right (and thus have the might) to define reality, and the key deception they use is to define "us" in the narrowest and most divisive terms. White vs. Black, Black vs. Hispanic, or Asian or Muslim or Jew, Americans vs. aliens, men vs. women, True Believers vs. Unbelievers, Withus vs. Gainstus, This team, That team. We see it everywhere. We see the blood flowing.

Not us as "humans" or "living things." If we saw ourselves that way they would be also be seen for what they are. Amoral mechanisms whose only purpose is to enlarge themselves by destroying anything that has not yet been absorbed. This means all life, freedom, independence, liberty. All sense of community and compassion.

They are destroyers. Adam Smith warned us. Marx warned us. Jefferson warned us. Lincoln warned us. Roosevelt warned us. Eisenhower warned us. Chomsky and Chavez and Arundhati Roy warn us. Yet they continue to roam the earth and devour everything they encounter, or incinerate it.

So what do we do? I don't know. We all do what we can. But ripping away these lies and remembering that we as living beings have much more in common with one another than we do with those heartless mechanisms -- this is a start.
