GOP Set To UnLock The Vault Of Vote Machine That Even Knows Your Beer (NY Daily News)
GOP set to unlock the vault

Vote machine even knows your beer

BY THOMAS M. DeFRANK AND KENNETH R. BAZINET
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

President Bush, shadowed by Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove, strides from the White House yesterday for campaign trip to Iowa and Michigan.

WASHINGTON - Even though the trend is ominous, don't write off the Republicans just yet.
Unwavering GOP operatives believe that in most close House and Senate races they could have the edge on Election Day because of their not-so-secret weapon - the party's vaunted "voter vault" database of information on rank-and-file Republicans.

Party officials described the voter vault as a marketing tool that identifies even prospective GOP voters, based on their values, consumer interests and hobbies, even where they pray and their personal finances.

"If you live on a certain street and subscribe to certain magazines, we can target you with mailings and have a shot at getting your vote even if you don't think of yourself as a Republican," a senior GOP official said. "We create a stake in the election for someone who may have been neutral."

4. The Dems do this too.

In the documentary the Persuaders on PBS this was covered. The theory is that political culture is divided both ideologically and materially in terms of consumption. The friends of the earth drive compacts and its enemies drive big trucks. The trouble is in many ares of the country this type of vehicle is a necessity for work. so they use our entire repetoire of consumption to catch the variance. Target marketers do this all the time.

10. this is an ominous quote
From Frank dead-squirrel-on-my-head Luntz:

"That's a big deal," GOP pollster Frank Luntz said. "Watch how many races are decided by one or two points."

Yeah, we'll watch that, Frank - -I have a feeling we'll see LOTS of races decided that way, after you lie, cheat and steal AGAIN.
