Watched Olbermann last night--Rove seems so confident--it's scary!
Keith had a story last night on how Rove said he see's 67 polls every week and he is confident that the GOP will hold both houses of congress. The polls have been so good for democrats and I guess Rove has to sound confident--but it is a bit scary too. I wish the election were next Tuesday instead of a week from Tuesday.

2. Yeah, I wonder about his math.
Does THE math include the voter fraud variable? It would be hard to bear a Republican victory again.

3. I wouldn't worry about it.
I think he's just trying to convince himself about the elections. We can't let him get us down.

4. He likened Rove's comment to Stalin's "It's who count's the votes"
It should be very obvious to everybody...Karl's just practicing his "explanation" for the miracle comebacks for the GOP.

5. rove is a smug ass man. looking at 68 polls, they are so desperate
right now, they are trying to rally their base, be it gay issue, stem cell issue, and of course he has his hand into the Harold Ford Jr. commercial.

6. Yep - really has me concerned too
The way that districts have been gerrymandered along with questionable voting machines and a HUGE ad buy throughout the country could make Karl confident. GOTV has never been more important.

7. Be very afraid..
If we have leaned anything from this administration, it is that they will do ANYTHING to advance their agenda. That means killing, tossing thier most loyal members under the bus, rig elections, ignore the constitution.

ANYTHING!

Be very afraid, and DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE ROVE!

8. If you remember correctly Rove went out on election day in 2004
and said the exit polls were all incorrect and he had the real poll numbers and they were confident they had won. Peter King said it's all over but the counting and they'd handle the counting.

I don't get why we don't take these pricks more seriously. We seem to think they're spreading bullshit or joking. Bush said it'd be easier if this were a dictatorship as long as he was the dictator... seems he's gone all out to make that a reality.

If they hold a majority he'll have the news spin it like they did in '04. "Voters were afraid to vote Democrat even with the scandals".

The fix is in people. We have to change this system or we will remain fucked forever.

9. I'm not getting my hopes up. We have to keep fighting. However,
I know several Republicans who I never thought would switch, who at least won't vote this election.

11. Faux manly confidence
It's the kind of bullshit that gives their base a big hard-on. "Our team's gonna kick your ass even though you're dancing in the end zone before you've scored."

That's what they have to do: make political competition into an abstract sports metaphor to mask the fact that their policies are really geared to the benefit of only 10,000 or so super-rich families.

12. Yes it was scary
Rove knows something- and that something is that they have the election in the bag just like they did in 2000 and 2004. Who are we kidding? They are micromanaging the elections in all of those 68 districts they are polling so closely- probably playing around with the voting machines and manipulating the vote.

I hope I'm wrong- but I would bet that we lose again.
Sorry to be so pessimistic :(

14. They have done their share of redistricting....
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 09:42 AM by emdee
either they do know without a doubt they'll win OR they want Dems to win so that at the end of Bush's term, everything will be their fault ---- they'll WANT to play "the blame game" at that point.

Edited to say: The Big Babies.
