So if Cheney were captured, 'waterboarding' him would be OK??? |
|
It is awfully easy to say 'its a no brainer' when talking about waterboarding 'high value' individuals, especially when there is a zero probability that he or his family will ever be in a position to have that technique used on them.
If it is so benign, let's have a demonstration on television of the technique by those who have OKed it as a 'no-brainer."
Every news channel would cover it. Then we would see how benign it really is if it were performed on Cheney in the same manner we are employing it in the field on high value individuals.
Given his history of heart problems, if the demonstration was the equivalent of the technique as it is now being practiced, I doubt he would survive. So maybe we could use a standin... like George W. Bush.

Perhaps that is what would make him truthful? We haven't figured out another way.

There are a ton of folks that culd be used as stand ins:
Gonzalez Rice Rummy Yoo
among others I'm sure, because that list doesn't even touch on the dirtbags in congress who also apparently think waterboarding is OK.
Maybe we could just line them up and demonstrate just how benign this interrogation technique really is, on all of them one after the other.

8. Seriously, if tazer guns are demonstrated, why not waterboarding? |
|
Bush, CHeney etal say it is not torture. Ok, let's see it demonstrated by those who are so sure it is not torture.
WE are not advocating that Bush & Cheney be tortured. WE are saying show us how benign it is by demonstrating it to us yourself.

9. A demonstration on television is an excellent idea. |
|
I'm all for it.
Oh, wait, that would be showing the enemy some of our tricks!
Come to think of it, didn't Cheney give away some of our secrets by saying we do use waterboarding?

10. Excuse me? Our enemies are blind and deaf? They don't know? |
|
The absolute lamest excuse for not admitting we are 'waterboarding' and worse.
You would have to think they never read or hear anything about the techniques we use to interrogate prisoners/detainees.

11. If it happened to US troops, then he'd be outraged |
|
At just how evil this tactic is.
RWers have a total double standard. But even stranger is the fact that they actually expect people who are not American to respect it and agree with it. They actually expect non-Americans to recognize their own inferiority and admit that Americans should never be tortured, but it's OK that they should if they are decided by the American Masters to be "unlawful enemy combatants."
This is why they are insane. They truly want to believe they were born into a nobility and that it should be recognized as such by the "inferoirs." Like medieval members of the Tudor family, they want that kind of recognition.

12. The Point Being That It Will CAUSE It To Happen To Our Troops.... |
|
... where is the moral high ground on this issue?
He is telling our troops, you will be next if you are captured --but not me. I can shoot my mouth off anytime I like, and approve an interrogation technique that will render absolutely unreliable information for my trouble.

14. Right, which is why the military has come out against it |
|
In fact I recall an organization representing military people filing an amicus brief in the Padilla/Hamdi cases, because of this very idea.
Not to mention that Darth Cheney thinks torture works only on the brown people, that is, if Americans are tortured, they will be brave and not give up the information that will lead to the defeat of America. Another favor bestowed by God on this genetic group.

13. Now Snow Indicates Cheney Did Not Mean 'waterboarding' just head dunking |
|
.... the audacity of the lies just keeps increasing.
Yeah, I guess Cheney assumed 'head dunking' could be a valuable tool in interrogating detainees, and it would cause them to give up information important to protecting this country.
Right?? Yeah right.....
