Bush: Man-woman marriage 'must be defended'
FROM WHAT?????

I assume he is referring to the serial adulterers out there in his republican party.

:grr:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/10/27/bush.gaymarriage.ap/index.html

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- President Bush said the "sacred institution" of marriage between a man and a woman must be defended against what he called activist court rulings.

Bush briefly brought up the topic, unprompted, while raising money here for a Republican congressional candidate, a day after the New Jersey Supreme Court decided that same-sex couples must be given the same rights as married people.

The court left it up to the state's Legislature to decide whether to extend those rights under the structure of marriage, civil unions or something else. (Watch a couple explain why, after 32 years, they want to be married -- 2:01 )

The president said the ruling "raises doubts about the institution of marriage."

14. Watch out with that one...
After all, Bill and Hillary Clinton only have one child.

But I don't believe for a second that * has seen any bedroom action since 1982. It's why he's such a schmuck. I mean, it sounds sexist and politically incorrect, but suggesting someone get laid to alleviate utterly snarly symptoms is not always a bad idea.

6. Sigh. Pandering bullshit to his fundie base.
It's essential they come out to vote in 11 days or they GOP is gonna lose big. I expect this sort of rhetoric to increase to a crescendo from now til the election.

8. From The Threat Of Divorce, Sir, Obviously
Freely available civil divorce ends, it might even be said destroys, one half of all marriages entered into by men and women in this country. The practice is clearly forbidden in the Bible, and forbidden in direct words from the mouth of Christ. No one claiming Biblical sanction for marriage as an institution can possibly countenance divorce; no one believing Godly behavior necessary for the welfare of the nation can do other than tremble in fear of the Wrath of God so long as this defiance of His Will continues. That virtually every leading figure of the Right in or out of political life is in absolute defiance of this ordinance of the Lord, that overwhelming majorities of the people in the country would angrily, even violently, reject attempts to impose this Sacred Law on us, these things ought to make no difference to Holy Warriors concerned with the preservation of marriage: the campaign to stamp out divorce really must commence immediately.....

13. Indeed, Sir: No Other Measure Could Suffice
It is worth pointing out divorce is a threat to even marriages between homosexuals, as in countries where this is permitted, there have already been numerous instances of dicorce among the couples so joined....

12. How about serial killers?
Hey, men like this can get married while awaiting execution for mass murder, but my longtime partner and I are a threat to the sanctity of marriage!

15. What 'doubts about the institution of marriage' are raised?
Seems to me that anyone who thinks that already has doubts about it and is looking for a conduit to express them.
