Watch O'Leilly on Oprah today |
|
I doubt it will be very hard hitting, but there was the request for viewers to ask questions on the show so hopefully a few of you Chicago locals signed up.
From her website:
Oprah's Town Hall
* Why does Bill O'Reilly say America is in the midst of a cultural war? * Is secular-progressivism bad for American youth? * Is there a middle ground between traditionalists and secular-progressives? * Does Bill think the war in Iraq was "sold" to the public? * Did the U.S. government have bad information leading into the war in Iraq? * Which famous political figures would Bill O'Reilly define as traditionalists? * What does Bill think about the ACLU? * Where do we draw the line between victim and victimizer? * Is the media trustworthy? * Can traditionalists and secular-progressives get along? * Is collateral damage in the war in Iraq justifiable? * Knowing what he knows now about the war in Iraq, if Bill could go back before the war began, would he support the war? * What is the greatest danger in the world today?

I could make a comforter for every Du'er out of this fluff. Tragic.

2. I don't think I could stomach that, thanks. |
|
I don't think O'Reilly should be given the credence of authority on ANYTHING. Who the fuck cares what he thinks is the greatest danger in the world today? What are his credentials for commenting on anything? As if he's Zbigniew Brezinski or something. Shame on Oprah for giving him yet ANOTHER forum.

4. Actually I agree. Curious to see what treatmet she gives him though. |
|
And what questions they got in response to their request from viewers, and how the audience responds.
I felt it was softball when Frank Rich was on last week. They seemed to have a rule that he couldn't come right out and criticize * and she made a point to turn around something Rich said so as not to blame * for "not being aware" of Katrina.

There was a lot of energy in the room and the liberal point of view was expressed by a couple of folks. But the editing of the show was brutal. They gave the RW much more time and Oprah never challenged O'Reilly on anything.
I also saw the show with Frank Rich and Oprah was distancing herself from him by always prefacing her remarks by "He claims...."
She did not do this for O'Reilly, she just engaged in conversation. Whatever Oprah's politics are, her show's producers/editors tend to be less critical of RW guests.
I can hardly wait for tonight's Letterman show to have O'Reilly receive the bitchslap he so richly deserves.

5. My question would be why would you give a right wing reactionary like him |
|
credibility by having him on your show. You did the same thing for * and look how well that turned out.
