1. Imagine if Jerry Falwell's shrine were destroyed.
Might explain why were not honored guests in Iraq.

4. I'm imagining it, but I better
not say what I'm feeling. I could get in trouble.

3. That sucks.
I have such mixed feelings about religion and all the stupid things we venerate, but it still pisses me off when this happens (even though I have occasionally wanted to nuke the Wailing Wall, the obsessive symbol of my own faith). I also remember being ridiculously glad after 9/11 that New York's old old churches had stood, firm and uncracked, just a little dusty.

17. A few selected comments from a friend about the statue:
That statue is cool since it’s so big. But, I’ve got a few issues with it:

1) the cross is tiny…is it supposed to be "Jesus bling" and not the cross he carried to Calvary?

2) why is he submerged in water? This I don’t understand at all. It’s not even a reflection pool – looks more like a highway drainage ditch from construction

3) at night you really can’t see it – they should have given Jesus strobe lights for eyes so you’d feel like the only one moving when you drive by. Plus, it’ll keep the ships from running aground when they come in

8. Its just a building
but I hope no one was killed or seriously injured, people you can't replace but buildings you can. I hope the Iraqis don't shed each others blood over this.

9. Just yesterday a general said if there was another attack like
the Golden Mosque attack, Iraq will fall into civil war. (as if it isn't already.)

If they kill over cartoons and stupid Pope sayings, I think they will kill over this.

12. This title sounds weird...
An explosion can blow another up?? What the hell?

I had to click on it to know it was another Shi'a Shrine.
