Forbes.com 9/28/05
"Congress made port security a priority after a February fight over a buyout that put a Dubai company in control of some operations at six American ports. The outcry led the Dubai company, DP World, to sell the U.S. operations to an American company." http://www.forbes.com/business/energy/feeds/ap/2006/09/28/ap3053914.html

2 DUers claim they heard Lou Dobbs say last week that the deal was done.

How many US ports are we talking about, anyway? Who knows!

"Dubai Ports. The seemingly innocuous commercial agreement for the Dubai-owned company Dubai Ports World (DPW) to purchase the British company Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co.—which would include, among other things, the contract to manage 24 container terminals at the ports of Baltimore, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Miami, and New Orleans, as well as lesser operations at 21 other U.S. ports"

DU researchers, "the googlers" etc, lend a hand if you can! If it was sold or is pending with HAL or Carlyle Group, well, Houston, we have a problem.
