"Are the judges on American Idol too mean?"
CNN's extremely relevant poll question of the day. Guess there's nothing else happening in the world.

1. Really.
I saw that.

Yeah, who gives a rat's ass about some Supreme Court nominee; let's talk about how evil the American Idol judges are!

:puke:

3. We'd probably be better off having THEM vote on Alito, though.

5. All I can say is that it's a good thing I have never been desperate
enough to subject myself to the humiliation of being on that program. I am afraid of what I might do to to those assholes if they got funny with me.

11. There was a great DU thread the other day......
..using AI as guide to current political humiliations too! Also, just noticed, this program is running away with the t.v. ratings, even beating NFL Championship games!

Personally and with :sarcasm:, I think, the Fundies voted Carrie Underwood the winner last season !?! A white bread virgin idol?

7. All of these american idol stuff is staged. period.
There was a little article put out about 5 months ago. Stating along the lines that the producers were going to do less boosting of the contestants and more tearing into them. On that note it was also mentioned that they were going to "spice" it up between the judges. aka scripted.

it's all smoke, mirrors and bullshit.

I watched the first season, it was mildly interesting but found it downright dull and insipid.

9. We live in a culture of meanness right now.
The guy who covers American Idol for Bill Press' show this morning pointed out that what we should be saying when this question is asked is, "Why is meanness so cool right now? Why is it considered entertainment to watch rich, famous mean people beat up on little nobodies?"

He makes a good point. Why are people like Ann Coulter and Glen Beck on CNN? Why are the "winners" in our society applauded for throwing their success in the face of the "losers"?

10. People have seen how this show works for how many seasons?
If you sign up for it, you should expect it. It is all for show.
