That one woman in the audience said something interesting about gay marriage. "Maybe I'm too old to digest it" It's kinda the truth.

It goes back to what Sullivan said earlier about how the government should be free to change as the times change. These kids today...they don't care about perverts like me no more. It's no big deal to them.

How Bush Rules: Chronicles of a Radical Regime
Sidney Blumenthal

He believes that President Bush is deliberately working to increase the power of the presidency. Mr. Blumenthal criticizes President Bush for trying to avoid congressional oversight, relying on one-party rule, squelching internal debate, and granting his vice president an unusual amount of power and authority. Mr. Blumenthal made his remarks at Politics and Prose bookstore in Washington, DC.

Sidney Blumenthal is a former assistant and senior adviser to President Bill Clinton. He is a regular columnist for the Guardian of London and Salon and the author of "The Clinton Wars."

47. It;s good...I watched it today and it's on at 7:00 a.m(est). Tomorrow/Sunday.
Blumenthal goes through the "Radical Presidency." Lots of stuff about how Condi flatters Bush and thats how she keeps her power. Also the Question and Answer is excellent. Very smart people in the audience and Blumenthal's answer to their questions is definitely worth the watch. One person asks about Council on Foreign Relations role in Foreign Policy and Blumenthal admits he's a member. Another asks about Kerry winning in 04...vote fraud was asked about twice. Other good questions.

Great White Fathers: The Story of the Obsessive Quest to Create Mt. Rushmore
John Taliaferro

In the early twentieth century, the US government conceived an art project that it hoped would serve as a testament to democracy, says author John Taliaferro. In "Great White Fathers: The Story of the Obsessive Quest to Create Mount Rushmore" he describes artist Gutzom Borglum’s realization of the idea by sculpting four presidents’ heads into a cliff face in the South Dakota Black Hills. He continues by detailing the politics of realizing Mount Rushmore National Memorial, its impact on the local Sioux Indians, its effects on auto tourism and its mixed reception by the public. The interview with Mr. Taliaferro was conducted in 2002. October 31st of this year marks the 65th anniversary of the completion of Mt. Rushmore.

John Taliaferro is the former senior editor of Newsweek. He is also the author of "Tarzan Forever: The Life of Edgar Rice Burroughs," "Charles M. Murder In Amsterdam: The Death of Theo van Gogh and the Limits of Tolerance
Ian Buruma

"Murder in Amsterdam" is author Ian Buruma’s exploration of the tension between the Dutch natives and the Muslim immigrants living in Holland during the 2004 murder of media personality Theo van Gogh. Mr. Van Gogh’s murderer, a Muslim, targeted the outspoken Dutchmen because he created a documentary criticizing Islam’s treatment of women. The author uses this case to argue against the commonly-held idea that Holland is a supremely tolerant nation. Politics and Prose Bookstore in Washington, DC hosted the event.

Dutch-born Ian Buruma is a professor of democracy, human rights and journalism at Bard College in New York. His other books include "Conversations with John Schlesinger" and "Occidentalism: The West in the Eyes of Their Enemies." For more information on Mr. Buruma and his work, visit www.ianburuma.com.

Uberpower: The Imperial Temptation of America
Josef Joffe

Josef Joffe talks about the role of the United States as the world's only superpower. Mr. Joffe discusses the major military actions taken by the U.S. since the decline of the USSR, including the 1991 Gulf War, the invasion of Afghanistan following 9/11, and the 2003 invasion of Iraq. He also talks about German politics and European attitudes towards Americans and American culture. The talk was hosted by the Carnegie Council in New York City.

Josef Joffe is publisher and editor of Germany's Die Zeit magazine and author of "The Future of the Great Powers." He is currently a fellow at the Hoover Institution in California. For more information, visit: www.hoover.org/bios/joffe.

Tempting Faith: An Inside Story of Political Seduction
David Kuo
Watch now - http://www.booktv.org/ram/feature/1006/btv102206_4.ram

David Kuo, who served President Bush as the Deputy Director of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, writes in "Tempting Faith" that the Bush administration is not sincere about compassionate conservatism and, instead, is manipulating Christian conservatives for political gain. He charges that public funds allocated to the Office of Faith-Based Initiatives were used to finance Republican campaign events in 2004. Mr. Kuo, an evangelical Christian and a Republican, says he believes Christians should take a two-year "fast" from political causes and instead support charities that help the poor and the sick.

David Kuo served as Special Assistant to President George W. Bush and Deputy Director of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. He has worked for numerous conservative leaders, including John Ashcroft, William Bennett, Jack Kemp, Bob Dole, and Ralph Reed. He is the author of "Dot.Bomb: My Days and Nights at an Internet Goliath. Currentlly, he is the Washington editor of the Beliefnet web site. David Kuo left the White House in late 2003 after a brain tumor and subsequent seizure caused to have a serious car accident.

Dangerous Nation: America's Place in the World from Its Earliest Days to the Dawn of the Twentieth Century
Robert Kagan

They describe the plan as a gradual one that doesn't involve cutting and running or deserting the Iraqi people. Mr. McGovern and Mr. Polk explain why they feel that Iraq was not a mortal threat prior to the invasion and detail the longterm effects of guerilla warfare. This event was hosted by the National Arts Club in New York City.

Warlord: No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy
Ilario Pantano

Ilario Pantano argues that the U.S., as a society, has moved away from embracing offensive warfare. He says that in Iraq and Afghanistan, because of moral and political considerations, the U.S. military has restrained itself from completely destroying the enemy and winning the war. Mr. Pantano also argues that the volume of media coverage of the war on terror has overwhelmed the American public's ability to process what is happening. As a result, he says, an increasing number of people are tuning out the war. This talk was hosted by the John Locke Foundation in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Ilario Pantano served with the Marines during the 1991 Gulf War. He rejoined the Marines after 9/11 and went to Iraq in 2004 after acquiring the rank of second lieutenant. "Warlord" is Mr. Pantano's first book.
