The real implications of the NSA's domestic surveillance program.
The National Security Agency is an agency within the Department of Defense. The FBI uses wiretaps on American citizens only after a warrant has been obtained. Is the citizenry not aware that the NSA is a DoD agency? What this means is that the U.S. military has been conducting operations on U.S. soil, against U.S. citizens. The mainstream media has been downplaying the NSA as a Defense Department agency, in fact I've not heard it mentioned once. The Bush administration claims that they have only used the "wiretaps" in cases of an international calls being placed to a domestic physicality. How are we supposed to know this? The information is classified and may never be released. I would imagine that not even the judges that oversee the FISA court have clearance to observe such material. Playing on peoples fears the administration has used National Security as a catch all defense of it's actions. Somebody who watches over your shoulder and exclaims, "You don't know what's best for you, we know what's best for you." A sort of "big brother" figure if you will. For those of you that have been waiting for the Federal government to "kick down" your proverbial door, this is it, the Feds just didn't tell you.
