Why is ABC's Brian Ross (Foley page story) in Nigeria?
Edited on Sun Oct-29-06 09:58 PM by ovidsen
I was watching ABC World News Tonight this evening (Sunday), and it featured a segement on the crash in Abuja, Nigeria Saturday. It included a report from an ABC news crew (not some BBC or SkyNews feed) and an off-camera interview with Mr. Ross, who said he was in another passenger jet awaiting takeoff from Abuja when the crash happened!

So why was the esteemed Mr. Ross (who earned the praise of decent Americans and the wrath of Repugs with his reports on Foley's lust for teen boys) in Nigeria? With a news crew?? I skimmed over the ABC website and couldn't find a damned thing.

The mind reels!!

UPDATE: (edit) His ABC blog says Brian was in Nigeria on assignment. He's done stories before on Nigerian spamming scammers. Maybe that's it?? Maybe one of Foley's boys is there? Doesn't say:

A Nigerian Boeing 737 passenger plane with more than 100 people on board crashed shortly after take off from the Nigerian capital of Abuja today. ABC News correspondent Brian Ross, on assignment in Nigeria, was on the next plane to leave Abuja and saw the burning wreckage as he flew over.

2. He's looking for his cousin who left him $30,000,000
He just got an e-mail that his cousin had died and left him the cash, and got so excited he flew down there to pick up his loot instead of risking Bush's Patriot Act eavesdropping on the wire transfer. That boy's one taco short of a combo platter.

5.  I imagine Ross is working on the NIgerian Oil Fields story...
Rioters (who I guess don't really like foreigners robbing them blind of their natural resources) have attacked US crews at these fields.... Running now, but if you do a google search, I'm sure it will come up, within the past week or so...

9. No, they got the right plane. The Sultan of Sokoto was on board
the plane that crashed. He was the spiritual leader of the muslims in Nigeria. He is dead now.

11. Other Nigerian politicians on the plane:
From http://allafrica.com/stories/200610290004.html:

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido, his son, Senator Badamoci Maccido, the Deputy Governor of Sokoto, Alhaji Garba Mohammed and the son of Second Republic President Shehu Shagari were among the over 100 people feared dead as a commercial airliner, Aviation Development Co (ADC) crashed after take off from Lagos to Sokoto en route to Abuja.

Others in the aircraft were Senator Sule Yari Ghandi and a PDP Gubernatorial aspirant in Sokoto, Alhaji Uwais Yaro Bodinga.

I wonder if any of those people have anything to do with this..
