Is it 41?

Do we know for a fact they will filibuster?

What can we expect when it happens?

I've been gone all day plus I don't fully understand the fillibuster.

Thanks!

What senators would everyone recommend we call that are not ours? Who is on the fence or not supporting a filibuster?

4. Call Landrieu's LA offices or Byrd - don't hesitate to beg!
They MAY just change their minds on hearing Kerry's call for filibuster and hearing from ALL OF US.

I begged, it wasn't bad, especially if it saves the Constitution from this monster.

6. They Need 41 Senators to NOT Vote "Yes" on Cloture
By either voting "no" on cloture OR abstaining from voting at all. The burden is on the Repubs to scrape up 60 "yes" votes on cloture.

7. 41
But as there are 45 Democratic Senators, and three have already said they will vote to approve Alito, and Lieberman will almost certainly not support a filibuster, all it takes is one more 'Yes' vote, or one Senator saying they won't filibuster, and the deal has gone down.

9. No, they don't need any votes "for a filibuster"...
The Republicans need 60 votes to end one.

10. flip it.
the vote is for cloture, to end debate. The R's will need 3/5 of members present, which is 60 if everyone's there. If senators abstain, it's as good as a "no" vote, from our point of view.
