PHOTOSHOP: Schwarzenegger's resume (WARNING: nudity, drug use & GOP)
While the guy running against Arnold here in CA is doing the best he can, some of the big dogs in the Democratic Party (with the exception of Kerry, Boxer, Dean, and a few others) seem content to let the terminator run loose until '08.

When he 'won' last time, a quarter of the instructors at one of the community colleges where I teach were fired, and tuition doubled.

I'd say Arnold is nearly as big a threat America and the Democratic Party as the GOP Congress. But I guess they'll figure that out the same way they did when they forgave and forgot Iran Contra, the October Surprise, election 2000 & 2004, and...

is what wins elections. Nothing else matters.

8. Someplace Else was a gay bar in Tucson by the late 80s
Edited on Sun Oct-29-06 11:41 PM by TechBear_Seattle
If my memory serves me correctly... let's just say that my mid to late teens as a young gay man in Tucson, Arizona are a bit hazy and unfocused. :hi: But I believe I am remembering the correct name; they had a great Sunday Brunch hosted by drag queens.

Hmm... A young man flees a conservative, oppressive country to America, here to become a self-obsessed body builder in his quest to become the perfectly masculine male of his deepest fantasies. I always thought his agressive skirt chasing was a bit too... well, forced.

...especially out in California. This is their governor and the man they may re-elect. He was a pig in 1979 and he's a pig in 2006.

I wonder what the people in that photo might have to say about him--both Patty Pierce, the woman he publicly degraded, and Susan Anderson, the helpful leg holder and now divorced wife of that Tucson bar owner. A check of the records indicates that she and Jim Anderson were still married as of 1986 (she was named as a co-defendant in a case against their bar) but a Susan Anderson divorced a James Anderson, in 1988. As for Patty Pierce, that's a little more difficult. There are a number of them in Tucson. One Superior Court entry is interesting, though. It shows either that a Patricia Ruth Pierce changed her name to Winnie Ruth Duncan or vice versa, on May 28, 1998.

Hmm...

By the way, I remember seeing Arnold walking out of the Tucson Doubletree Hotel in 1979. We were going in for a meal with my father, who was visiting, at the time. I know it was 1979 because I remember my then 5-year old son complaining that he didn't want a booster chair, and my now ex-husband saying that Arnold's last name meant "Black Black." Just one of those funny memories, I guess.

CNN replayed it and ridiculed him as if running a tape loop.

Republican media was scared stiff because our combined $20 contributions added up to a seeming victory.

12. unfortunately, Arnold is the same thing in reverse...
both parties seem to have made some deal in the smoke filled rooms, and we are stuck with this sack of shit for another four years.

If the elite didn't like him, all the stuff in that picture could have been on the cover of every newspaper in the state.

The Enron stuff never did get mainstream coverage even though it amounted to racketeering--energy pirates who have GOP in back pocket get electricity deregulated, blackmail CA, GOP blames Democratic governor for resulting deficit, install Arnold through a recall who does nothing to recoup the extorted money. And now he'll get re-elected.

Tony Soprano would treat us better.

Edited on Mon Oct-30-06 01:29 AM by impeachdubya
Personally, though, I'd focus on educating people about the secret meeting with Ken Lay during the "energy" "crisis" he manufactured. I think that's got the highest outrage potential. As I said above, you can't get too much outrage on Arnold's sex life because, for all his other faults, he's generally doesn't cut strongly towards the "family values" wing of the GOP.

28. problem with energy crisis--it is epic corruption and racketeering
but you can't fit it on a bumper sticker so stupid people don't get it, and even a lot of smart people don't take the time to digest something that takes more than a sentence or two to explain.

All you have to do for confirmation is see how many threads on the oil motive for the Iraq War die of neglect here. People would rather talk about the scandal du jour even though the pedophile congressman is primarily a danger to those who think it is safe to send your kids to Washington (probably the same people who send their virgin daughters to biker bars, frat houses, and football team locker rooms).

40. You've got it right.
The real problem is uninformed, stupid, and uncaring citizens.

Of those that care enough to vote, there is a large number who vote against their self-interests.

A vote for Arnold is a vote for the guys that were laughing about ripping off your Grandmother.

C'mon California. Did that many numbskulls finally move there?

I can almost understand voting for a guy like Reagan, but ARNOLD??

A guy that was scheming with the Enron guys??

Oh well. I'm from Maryland and somehow we got a one-term repug governor. But we're giving his dumb ass the boot.

39. That excuse is sick, as usual
So the Dems voted for the war and the Patriot Act. No one voted for theft, crime and the specific results of abuse of everything voted for. So it does not go to the benefit of Democrats 100%. Since when does the paper pimp for Democrats on the issues anyway? It is about the specific role, accountability, conspiracy and onerous results piled on the citizenry well beyond the natural results of deregulation. In fact, federal regulatory agencies and company officials conspired to go even further beyond the 'deregulation" and allow an assault upon California with impunity. Then the government labored hard to get the Bush protege empty suit in on a scam so that his his dealing with Enron would lead to a big favor for the Punishers to the further insulting detriment of the state. If one has time to blame the lapses and inadequacy of the elbowed aside Dems, by all means. What on earth that has to do with going after the obvious, documented, shameless criminals except by becoming the permissive, complicit media that provides an occasional hypocritical wailing chorus for the moans of the readership it no longer serves.
