Joe Barton is an asshole
Here is the motherfucker blocking the Combating Autism Act because he is been paid off by the Pharma companies. He held a "Town Meeting for Autistic Parents" where a father of an autistic child tried to be a part of it but was TURNED AWAY BY THE POLICE! What a chickenshit motherfucker.

1. Regardless of if
one likes Don Imus or not, it is a good thing that he goes after Joe Barton every single day.

2. Imus is reaming him now...
He just called him a liar, a fat mushy thing and wonders how he can look at himself in the mirror.
He nails him every day.

3. What makes it even better
is knowing that it upsets the "mushy thing" to the point that two weeks ago, he called a couple of the top dogs at MSNBC to try to get them to force Imus to stop. Those calls didn't work.

10. I didn't know he asked MSNBC to pressure Imus to stop...
Seems like that would only fire Imus up even more!
Now he's giving out Barton's phone number
Advising people not to say anything threatening however.

11. Yep ....
Imus makes frequent mention of it. He points out that he doesn't have any connection (such as a family member) who deals with the condition, and so the powers that be can't say he isn't being objective.

Terrible thing to try to go over someone's head, and having it backfire.

Note: Barton had also had his office contact the Imus show to propose having a frank, off-the-record discussion of his position. Imus mocked him for that: it's hard to call a position frank if you want to make it off-the-record. After two days of Imus rubbing his nose in this, Barton tried calling the top dogs.

Trieff and a group of colleagues recently completed a review of hospital admissions for the year 2002 in Midlothian - where cement and steel plants dominate the economy and produce toxic emissions that dominate the air across North Texas - and found a "a higher rate of asthmatic admissions to the hospitals there than the state average." Such data tells him, he said, that "cement plants ... can cause or worsen asthmatic problems." The group has recently applied for a National Institutes of Health grant "to further explore the health effects of the cement plants," he said.

Particulates and ozone are highly irritating to the respiratory system, he said. "They worsen pre-existing conditions and can be the underlying cause of asthma or emphysema if the exposure is long enough."

"There are certainly more problems during high ozone days," Fling said. "More asthmatic children come to our offices and our emergency rooms on those days. There is definitely a connection to particulate matter and ozone."

The children of the poor are affected more severely by air pollution, he said, for complex societal and economic reasons, not the least which is the fact that thousands of them were dropped from the CHIP rolls two years ago when the Texas Legislature took a meat cleaver to the program. (The legislature this year restored funds for some but not all of those cut in 2003.)
Gotta love those "caring" republicans
