If there is evidence of the executive branch influencing a judicial investigation, getting the evidence out to the people is the best thing that can be done. The only explanation I could see, is that the evidence was shakey and more digging had to be done. If thats the case than there was no choice really.

a challenge that might be worth tackling is boiling your story down to the bare minimum in a way that communicates the basics AND grabs people's attention . . . your numbered narration is a good start, but most simply won't take the time or the effort to read it through and follow the story to the end . . .
