HAL? Will they buy it with our stolen tax $$$? Carlyle? In whom the Emir of Dubai recently bought a massive position? They've both been mentioned. If so, this will be the next BIG scandal.

DP World expecting much more than $700m

Dubai: DP World, which is studying bids for the sale of its US assets acquired in the P&O purchase, expects to receive "considerably more" than the speculated $700 million, shipping industry journal Lloyd's List reported.

The Dubai-based port operator hopes to complete the deal within six to eight weeks, it said, quoting Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, group chief executive of Ports and Free Zone Authority, an umbrella company that includes DP World.

The response from potential buyers so far has been "very good", Bin Thaniah said.

The US part of the $6.8 billion P&O acquisition was opposed by American politicians on national security grounds and DP World was forced to announce in March that it would give up the US terminals.
