Called my congress critters and really harped at Cantwell this morning after hearing on our local news she planned to vote "Yes" on Alito.

My husband called first and yelled at her aide. My husband got a little hot. But I was calm when I called, and by then they were saying she was still undecided! They wanted to know where I had heard the she had decided to vote "Yes." I told them and twenty minutes later the news was reporting she was undecided again.

The Repubs continue to write off the citizen action they are seeing as "astroturf."

They have no idea what spontaneous citizen action looks like -- just too dang frightening. (What? People doing something? On their own? No strategists calling the shots? . . Ordinary People getting into the act??)

Our ranks grow with every effort. And more and more of our "leaders" are standing up. Whatever the outcome, we are advancing my leaps and bounds. Not long ago, the Democratic Caucus seemed incapable of actually doing something!

Kerry's public declaration is a concrete action. He has drawn a line; thrown down the gauntlet. Whatever the outcome, he has broken the bonds of complicity. Let them cry "sore loser" and "backlash" 'til the cows come home. They no longer have free reign to create a false reality. We are actually getting real!!

May they find comfort in the fantasy that the rise in the number of "citizen lobbyists" is manufactured, transitory, unreal. (First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then you win!)

I've done a few alerts in the past, but I have never seen so many hits so fast!

More than 50 of those hits definitely resulted in action (email or telegrams). This doesn't mean 200 people looked and did nothing, just that they didn't do it from my page (there are other alerts and avenues). This may not sound like a high action/hit ratio, but it is higher than I've seen on one of these.
