Is it legal to use camera phones in voting booths? |
If so I thought it might be a good idea to video record these machines when they are not working.
A lot of cell phones these days record video.

1. It depends on your state, but my state does not allow cameras in the polling place. |
Privacy of the vote and all that. But if YOU want to go and video your own vote, if you have a private voting booth, then who would know?

5. It would probably be worth bending the rules |
If your machine isn't working and your phone record video, I think it would be a good idea to record it regardless. At least post it anonymously somewhere for the world to see.

12. Ya, and 8 seconds should be plenty... |
I know the Motorola Razr and a lot of other phones record video. I noticed teenagers using them at a concert I went to a few months ago. It's really easy to record multiple 8 second clips. They also record audio.

7. Here in Cali it's illegal to photograph or videotape another person in the act |
Of entering or leaving a polling place.
It's legal to take in any kind of camera, and photograph or videotape anything that isn't a person (other than yourself) entering or leaving.

10. Then maybe a small digital camera that records video would be okay... |
As long as you aren't taking video of other people.

11. Not as illegal as Vote Stealing and Rigging |
Your polling place should have a curtained off area, after that youre on your iown to make the choices you see fit. If your mnachine is screwed up then I would see it your duty as an American ;) to take that photo.

13. Call your local party and Secretary of State's office. |
I'd think it would be okay in order to record your OWN vote, but I don't want anyone, even someone I perceive as an ally, to record mine.
