Stealing this one will be harder... |
|
My gut says that they will do anything they can to win, anything. They have proven this in the past, but this time may be different.
Consider that to steal a presidential election, tampering in a few key states can tilt the election, now consider the nature of the midterms.
The midterms consist of hundreds of local and regional elections. There is nothing Blackwell can do in Ohio to affect what happens in Virginia. There is nothing a Harris wannabe can do in Florida to save Santorum in Pennsylvania. To successfully tamper with this election enough to maintain control of the House requires hundreds of individuals be involved with the tampering, unlike 2004, where the efforts of a handful of individuals may have been enough to tip the scales in Ohio.
And this is why I believe they're so worried this time around. They will do all they can do. The Idiot Son may stump in areas where people still have some use for him. The Saddam trial may intrude on Nov. 5. They may make some terra thing may happen 2 days before the elections.
I have been following the polls. In more normal times I would have broken out the champagne by now. Not this time. Like you, I don't trust them. They may still have something up their sleeves, but for now at least I'm still smiling.
Keep the faith.

3. "but for now at least I'm still smiling" |

That's the ticket. SMILE; it really INFURIATES them (but keep your eye on your hat & coat).
An enigmatic smile, with little if any comment, would probably be best. That would keep them up all week in a cold sweat.

4. With so much focus on this |

I suspect that the lowly programmer or whoever would be doing this would seriously consider what would happen if he got caught. Jeff Skilling sitting in prison for 24 years should be a wake up call to anyone who wants to engage in any kind of fraud.
I suspect keeping control of the House at this point would be a huge task since voting and counting is done at the local level. That's a lot of machines to fuss with and fuss with them they must to make each individual race come out with results that are plausible.
The larger the plan the more people must be involved. That creates entirely too many variables to control with much confidence.
We shall see.
