I am going to have to speak about how poorly the parking lot is lit. I am sure they won't install a light, but it really freaked me out how dark it was.

I don't mind the time-change, I mind the season and the temperate lattitudes - I mind that it's cold and dark.
I didn't even get the benefit of an extra hour's sleep this time, because I wrote all night Saturday to Sunday. But at least I got the story done, and was reasonably happy with it....

14. Hell, I live in the UK. |
|
Try total darkness at 4:30 PM, mixed with drizzle and threats of alcohol violence. Of course we get the better of it in summer, when the nights are only about five hours long, the sun comes up at 4:00AM and sets at 11:00 PM. But during the winter it's painful. Long shadows at midday.

I lived in York for a year and Essex for three. I also spent a term at Lancaster, where the lights in the car park would flicker on at about 3:30pm in December. :P
When I lived in Essex, I would leave home at about 7:45, in the dark... then come home at 5:00, in the dark. From about October through April. It SUCKED.
Other than that, I loved the UK. Wish I was still there often.

Which is geographically quite close to Essex, but culturally somewhat more distant. (Tries to avoid making obligatory essex girl joke... fails... puts down the computer)

22. I lived in Brentwood, then in Willingale |
|
...which is between Ongar and Chelmsford on the A616. My ex was from Doncaster, and also a graduate of York, and we always wanted to move back to York, but, alas there is little work to be had there except tourism and the chocolate factory. :)
I think I have actually only been to Cambridge twice. I prefer Oxford, probably because of the more rolling countryside and the fact that I spent a blissful summer there in 2001, living the student life, and in luuuurve. haha So much for that.
But, yeah... Essex. Hrm. Innit.

Cambridge occupies an extremely odd position, perched between Essex and the fens. Kind of like two weird sides of the same coin, that is. It is by no means an exciting or dynamic town, but it does have its charms. Hmm... I haven't been in luuuuurve since I've been here. Maybe the town would appeal to me more if I... well, yeah.

I hate leaving work in the dark. During the winter, it feels like I'm ALWAYS at work. Daylight Savings Time should last year-round.
