"China military to tour U.S. bases" Why?
Why?

From LBN thread:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x2586696

"HONOLULU - A Chinese military delegation will begin a five-day tour of U.S. military installations in Hawaii and California on Monday and meet with senior U.S. officers in the latest step to repair military ties between the two countries.
About 30 midlevel military commanders in the People's Liberation Army, including division and brigade commanders, will visit U.S. Pacific Command headquarters in Hawaii, tour a guided missile destroyer in San Diego and observe Marine training at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
It is the third such visit by Chinese military officers since the countries agreed last October to increase military exchanges."

The THIRD visit? And we are just now hearing about it?
Somehow, given China's record in dealing with dissidents
and Bush having just signed his draconian Military Commission Act
along with the death of habeus corpus, not to mention the flurry of
western banks setting up shop in China- this news does not bode well with me.

6. I saw Iranians training at our submarine base
Around 1975 I saw many officers from the navy of Iran training at the nuclear submarine base in Groton, Connecticut.
One year they were our friends, in a different year they are our enemies. But the training lasts a lifetime.

Doesn't surprise me in the least, what you say.
For decades, the "powers that be" have been
picking and shucking friends as the relationships
benefit, or don't , the global elite.
And that certainly does not bode well for the American
people at this point, given that we are not beneficial to
them at this point.
Certainly explains the debacle in New Orleans,
does it not?
A glimpse into our collective future, if you ask me.

They exhibited the ability to black out the
satellite's ability to record data- I'm not a scientist,
and therefore I have put it in the best terms I can
having read the article.

What's going on?
I think we have been sold down the river.
It's all about energy.
What's good for the oil companies, as in
the forecast of China being the largest global energy consumer
in the future, is not necessarily good news for the rest of us
when China is now the economy able to afford the energy, where as Americans
are living pay check to pay check and their credit cards...which they
will never be able to pay off.

16. Touring MILITARY bases...somehow, I don't think curtains enter the equasion.
Think about it- WHY military bases?

Frankly, the whole idea chills me to the bone
in light of the administration's latest dictatorial
power grabs.
I truly wonder how the Freepers feel about this
latest bit of news.
As a matter of fact, it is the only comfort I can
muster at this point; the thought of how the
bushbots will writhe at the thought of
the Chinese military touring US military bases...
Bwahahaha...
We tried to warn them, didn't we?

18. My jab was targeted at Bush*
Twice last week, the jerk made a joke of the fact that Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats were measuring the curtains in the Speaker’s Office. Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

Truth be told, I don't know what to make of the Chinese visiting US bases. I suspect they saw nothing remotely classified. I remember Foreign National dignitaries visiting my unit back in the early seventies and I was instructed to lock-down my vault and look busy in another office. They were shown mess halls, gym, barracks, flagpole, etc., but nothing even remotely HOT.

You know the Chinese aren't as friendly as we might think. They shot lasers at our spy satellites, which is a very hostile act.

Now, I'm by no means a hawk or anything, but allowing a potential enemy to tour our bases is the craziest idea in American history.

Kind of like having the Soviets or Nazis on to our military bases right before they became our enemies.

You know simply from the perspective of liberty, these Chinese are making only modest progress. They are really awful horrible people, and they are fucking us over via our trade deficits. What, do we want them to kick our ass and depose us from the world's only superpower?

These nutty son of a bitches in the White House have got to be stopped, this is a threat to national security. We should start protesting this crap, I am certain that even the dimwit Republicans in their base will be right there with us to stop this.

I mean they won't even have to hack into our computers or spy on us, no no we just let them come in a have a look around.

If we are this stupid, maybe we don't deserve to be the world's only superpower?

China is positioned to be the next super power economically.
They are predicted to consume voracious amounts
of nonrenewable resources AND they, not the US, have
the economy to do it.
In that our country is being controlled by the
corporations who will profit from China's wealth
and able consumption, is there any question in any thinking
person's mind as to what the future holds for the
average American?
AS in,
Welcome to the way the rest of the world has lived
for a long time, in poverty.
Think the corporate congress gives a crap about us?
Think again.
They know which way the wind is blowing and who will
butter their bread, and it isn't the debt ridden US.

They were all over his ass for allegedly giving China top-secret nuke and missile technology. I guess this is yet another of those things where it's okay if they do it.
