I'm Looking Forward To Hearing The Words "Madam Speaker" |
|
It's a big deal to me; having a woman as Speaker. She will become 3rd in line to assume the Presidency. She will be the most powerful woman in the nation. It's a huge bully pulpit, and it will be magnified by her gender. I think she'll do an admirable job, and oh yeah, as an added perk, freeper heads will be exploding from sea to shining sea.

This could be the stepping stone for our first woman President! She is someone I would like to work for--would love to see her get Bush impeached.

But I think her first order of business as Madam Speaker should be to get laws passed to destroy the K Stree Project. Not just substitute dem lobbyists for repub ones; get rid of it entirely. If that doesn't happen, the dems will be the victims of bribery and crime just like their repub colleagues. These people are only human and when that much money is waived under their noses, nothing good is going to come of it. We don't want stories coming out in four years about all the dem congress people who took bribes, trips, tickets to sporting events, etc. The whole lobbying concept should be declared the illegal practice it is.

6. I don't think it's constitutionally possible |

to get rid of lobbying, and I'm not sure we really want to do that. We'd shut advocates for the environment, the disabled and the poor, out completely. But I do agree that there need to be far more restrictions on lobbying, and far greater oversight.

5. Call the Capitol switchboard and ask for Dennis Hastert's office... |
|
and then, when they answer, tell them, "Oh... I asked to be transfered to Nancy Pelosi's office."
