We should see a Democratic landslide next Tuesday. But what if it's stolen? |
|
Given the Iraq war, the economy and Foley scandal, Hurricane Katrina, and so much more, we should expect to see a Democratic landslide next week that will wash away most of the Republican slime now inhabiting our congress.
But after seeing what happened during the past three elections, I have no confidence that we can stop them from stealing it again. Where there are no paper trails, all the poll watchers in the world will be useless. And when people can't get to vote because of intimidation, or because their names have been scrubbed from the lists, all bets are off.
I cautiously look forward to a midnight celebration next Tuesday with the House and Senate firmly in our hands. But that inner voice keeps whispering to me not to go pulling any champagne corks yet.
Given all the polls we've been seeing for months now, if we lose next Tuesday, it can only be because they've stolen it again. So what's our fall-back plan? Do we accept it? Do we bounce off the walls? Do we take to the streets? Do we take it to the courts (where they've selected the majority of judges)?
I'll be damned if I have a plan other than ranting, raving and condemning the Republican party to hell. So what's your plan?

You say you'll change the constitution Well, you know We all want to change your head You tell me it's the institution Well, you know You better free you mind instead But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow Don't you know it's gonna be all right all right, all right all right, all right, all right all right, all right, all right

5. The DNC has already amassed a war chest that is targeted |
|
at investigating vote fraud. The Rs have a similar fund.
I wouldn't hold my breath on Tuesday night. I think that every close race will be challenged by the "losing" Party. The problem is that many races will only be close due to vote fraud, ie: clear D wins will have their waters muddied by RW dirty tricks.

You're a fool if you think that poll watchers have no effect. Of course they do. So get up and do something. Your ranting and raving is what's useless. Not to mention very concern-trollish.

23. I repeat. You have no idea what I'm doing. But this begs the basic |
|
question in my OP. What do we do if they steal it again?
That's the real question as opposed to my personal get-out-the-vote activities.

Let me get this right...
You demand entertainer Limbaugh apologize to entertainer Fox.
Next you close your eyes and yell "La la la" to ignore your man Kerry's troop bashing.
Nice.

Do you need me to remind you that there's an occupation going on and we're running short of troops? And I'm female and over 50, so I don't need to enlist to make this point. And what are you doing right now? Being a proud member of the 101st Fighting Keyborders, fighting the "enemy" over here so you can pretend you're not needed more over there?

12. 1) Request what little vacation time I have from work (maybe 2 days) |
|
2) Isolate myself and stew. 3) Cry it out when I'm alone so that I can pretend to be halfway normal when wife is home. 4) Pick myself up and dust off. 5) Pray to any diety who gives a damn that it won't be too late come 2008.
I'd scream from the rooftops but I'm not in shape to climb up there, and then I'd just be blending in with all the local methheads. :eyes:

20. the polls suggest a Democratic House and a closely divided Senate |
|
I don't know what polls you're looking at, but the one's that I've seen suggest that Democrats will capture the House with a few seats to spare (picking up 20-25 seats total) and that in the Senate, the outcome will be 49 R/51 D, 50/50 or 49 D/51 R. I don't think this equates to "washing away most" of the repubs and if that's what you think is going to happen, you're going to be disappointed.

26. We've said before that there's a Katrina waiting for the American public |
|
in every policy area. This administration breeds disaster. Everything it touches turns to crap (and I'm not sure this is unintentional). This is likely to happen again November 8...it will be clear that our election system is in failure mode. The wailing may come from conservatives this time, but there will be a lot of focus on the vulnerability of the whole system and maybe even some delay in announcing outcomes.
The system sucks. Once this is decided, a ton of money will be redirected to pet corporations (probably a Bush brother firm) to fix the system. It will still suck in 2008, but favored corporations will be richer for it.
Again, this is not something that happened overnight. It took years of planning and acquisition and concerted legislation to get to the point where RW corporations control elections. Similar to media control.....
Man, is this going to be interesting in a week....we literally find out just how big and deep the hole is that the public finds itself in. Because, if the RW entrenched power is as strong and devious as many suspect it is, there's no way they'll let 40 years of planning and trillions of dollars go down the drain. If RW maintains control, we will have to come to some grim conclusions and may see that prospects for change are bleak. However, if the dc dems manage to get the vote out and prevail...then we can breathe a sigh of relief that we dodged a bullet and can start the long road back to repair. What a crossroads....
A plan for AFTER this battle is lost? Can't think of one that would be effective. Teach our kids to be skeptical, to value truth over spin, to love one another, to not buy into fear mongering, to hate war, to understand what the global corporations are doing, to love the outdoors, to question.
