New Jersey Du'ers, is Keans one trick corruption pony gotten old? |
|
Is this playing with voters, i know Menedez is up in the polls so are voters telling Kean enough is enough. Kean doesn't seem like he has any agenda aside from "Rooting out corruption." Does he feel that way about his own parties Abramoff problem?

6. You know ... that's true |
|
As long as things get done, most people don't care around here. It has to be major, pissing-on-the-people, die-hard corruption for them to care.

2. I swear, if we see this commercial one more time I'm going to scream. |
|
His new one claims that Menendez wants to give our tax dollars to illegal aliens.
Don't worry. New Jersey will be fine. If almost 60% of NJ supports gay rights, then I think we have this one in the bag.

|
Oh yeah ... that's not racist. :eyes:
The Kean ad I keep seeing says, "Menendez won't resign ... so you have to do it for him."

3. That's why his campaign is running another ad, highlighting |
|
his attractive family and making them look like another middleclass New Jersey family.

8. He is. But the new ad is a "positive" image of him as compared |
|
to the "negative" ad of him going after Mendendez. It's to make undecided voters feel more comfortable in the voting booth.

I thought he didn't bother to make one.

9. Did you notice his wife in the commercial? |
|
When everyone's together at the end saying "And I approve this message", she mouths "approve" but doesn't say the word or any of the phrase. It struck me as odd.

10. Kean is Hardly Middle Class . . . |
|
He lives in Westfield, one of the wealthiest towns in New Jersey. I voted right behind him in the primary in June. Had to make my way through all the TV cameras and reporters.
I stood right behind him when he was speaking to the press after we both voted and said loudly, "Vote Democratic!"
And yes - his bullshit attack ads against Menendez have really gotten tiresome.

5. Menendez seems to have more support in my area, but ... |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-31-06 01:43 PM by BattyDem
most people are "blue" around here. Even if there wasn't an anti-GOP backlash, I wouldn't expect Kean to get the most votes in my town.
I've noticed something about Kean's ads:
The only time he ever actually speaks to the public is when he comes on at the end and says, "I'm Tom Kean, Jr. and I approved this ad."
I've never seen an ad where he simply taks to the people about himself, his background or his ideas. (Maybe such an ad exists, but I've missed it.) By contrast, Menendez has a great ad where he talks about his hard-working mother and being the first person in his family to graduate college ... it makes it clear that he knows what it's like to have to work hard for everything you have. Nothing was handed to him.
On edit: no_hypocrisy says in a post above that Kean DOES have an ad like that. I haven't seen it ... but apparently it does exist. :-)

12. Way too many Kean signs in my area |
|
Of course, it's only just two or three people who've been spamming the highways with the signs, but it's aggravating anyway. Rts.208 and 287 are relatively clear of all signs now (looks like DOT finally showed up), but Kean signs are littering Rt.23 in the Wayne to W.Milford area. Makes it look like there's only one candidate running for the Senate.

14. Kean kept smiling at inappropriate times |
|
during an interview on MSNBC. I don't see how any voter can take him seriously when he keeps a silly smile on his face while talking about serious issues.

15. When I was up there a couple of weeks ago, I saw a Kean attack ad |
|
that supposedly had someone on tape implicating Menendez in some corrupt scheme or other.
The fine print said that the tape had been obtained by the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Now, what "inquiring" minds want to know is, if a newspaper made the tape, how in the hell did it wind up in the hands of a political campaign?
