13. Better headline: GOP steals ammo from Iraq to attack John Kerry
They're deflecting attention from Iraq, to attack Kerry.. this headline is probably more accurate.

John Kerry didn't "give" them anything; they created this controversy.

Statement of John Kerry Responding to Republican Distortions, Pathetic Tony Snow Diversions and Distractions

Washington – Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerry’s comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:

“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.

Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.”

20. All Kerry was doing was TELLING THE TRUTH
The UGLY truth, the CLASS WARFARE truth -- the truth that the majority of those sacrificing in this war are the children of the disadvantaged, not those of the RatBastard's big-bucks pals.

THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES! The fact that Gophers are making such a big deal out of this is because IT'S THE TRUTH that they don't want people to focus on. They want everyone to go on thinking that there is NO CLASS WARFARE in this country when in reality only one side has been fighting -- THE HAVES. How DARE we fight back? Well, ah nevah ...

21. they are following the plan described on Kos & mydd a couple weeks ago
Edited on Tue Oct-31-06 02:13 PM by greeneyedboy
http://www.mydd.com/story/2006/10/25/12476/552

. . . .Here is what http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/10/25/0748/6332">ABC's politi{c}al director said to Bill O'Reilly yesterday:
Halperin answers roughly, `we've documented it in our book and we the Media have to work hard these two weeks to regain the trust of conservatives.'

ABC's political director has made a decision that ABC News has to pander to conservatives during the final two weeks of the election. Accordingly, they have produced "news" that simply repeats the opinions of conservative pundits. I wonder what "news" they will dig up next.

http://abcnews.go.com/Reference/story?id=54216">Contact ABC News. Ask them what their Political Director, Mark Hlperin, meant by "we the Media have to work hard these two weeks to regain the trust of conservatives." Ask them if that means we can expect more "news" stories that are simply repeating what right-wing pundits like Sean Hannity think, as they did in the article. If you have a phone number to contact ABC News (no personal numbers), find it, and I'll post that too.

http://thinkprogress.org/2006/10/25/halperin-media-liberal/">Think Progress has more on ABC decision to swing right during the final days of the election.

23. John Kerry's response to Tony Snow's accusation
<snip>
Snow: "Senator Kerry not only owes an apology to those who are serving, but also to the families of those who've given their lives in this. This is an absolute insult."

Kerry: "This is the classic GOP playbook. I'm sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did. I'm not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium."
