Snow: President Bush Has ‘Actually Taken The Lead’ On Climate Change
Edited on Tue Oct-31-06 02:43 PM by RedEarth
Today White House Press Secretary Tony Snow stated that “contrary to stereotype,” President Bush has been “actively engaged in trying to fight climate change.” He also took issue with a reporter’s comment that the United States has been absent from a global emissions and cap trade program, arguing that the Bush administration has “actually taken the lead on those kinds of innovations.”

Full transcript below:

SNOW: The President has in fact, contrary to stereotype, been actively engaged in trying to fight climate change and will continue to do so.

REPORTER: The one area that is notably absent and that even Shell Oil and other major players are calling for is a global mandatory emissions cap and trade program. Unless do you this on an international basis, it’s not in the long-term economic interest of the United States, which seems to be one of your arguments that somehow will benefit the United States in the long-term.

SNOW: Well, what the United States has done is we have actually taken the lead on those kinds of innovations.

Perhaps there are a few tips he's missed on rewriting history.

7. wait a minute
I thought global climate change was a myth and that these things are cyclical anyway and we have nothing to worry about.

I guess that went all "stay the course."

14. Flip flop flip flop
So now he's for it where as before he was against it. :eyes: And someone should ask Mr. Snow what exactly they've been doing besides denying it.

Some would find "falling behind" as "taking the lead". It's a directional perception...

17. The only steps the bush* administration took to combat global warming
Edited on Tue Oct-31-06 02:36 PM by Raster
were to deny it to the nth degree in the face of all scientific evidence, and further, allow a hand-picked exxon petroleum propagandist access to official policy papers and briefings with the clear intent of obscuring and distorting the truth. This administration is owned lock, stock and oil barrel by the Texas Petroleum Mafia and their suppliers and enablers the Saudis. In other words, the clearly alarming news of climate catastrophe we hear today, is old news to bush* and his masters. When they received concrete information that mankind, specifically mankind's use of fossil fuels, was significantly damaging the planet, they hid the evidence. Even more damning was the fact that false scientific data was manufactured and substituted for the real scientific fact. THEY CHOSE RECORD QUARTERLY PROFITS OVER THE HEALTH OF THE PLANET AND THE FUTURE OF MANKIND!

20. Was waiting for this
Yup, I've been waiting for something like this to be said on global warming.
Pure Pug tactic.

Just like totally fucking up Iraq, probably beyond resolution in our lifetime, and then blame the Dems for not having a plan to resolve the conflict.

They are very good at framing the debate and unfortunately we don't have a media ready to them on this shit.
