If cloture passes, there will be up to 30 more hours of debate and then a vote.

7. I just called Senator Byrd's Washington office
Went straight to voice mail, and the mailbox is full.

I called his local (Charleston, WV) office. I went to voice mail there too, but at least I was able to leave a message.

I told them I could understand if he decides not to support a filibuster, but I want him to at least vote against Alito. We Democrats need to send a message that says, "Alito is your Supreme Court Justice, not ours.

I made sure they will know that I am a voting constituent.

Talking about Alito's tendency to expand Executive power.

-Takes a minimilist approach to recognising Govt error and abuse-

-Takes the side of corporations.-

Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 06:59 PM by Lasher
edit: Inhofe says he deals with environmental issues on his committee? Coulda swore they swept them under the rug.

What's this crap? Since Senator Kennedy is rich and powerful, he is not qualified to lobby against those who favor only the rich and powerful? Inhofe is a total weasel.

Inhofe sounds like someone who is trying to tell his wife that he has no idea how those fancy lace panties got into his pickup truck.

Oh brother! Talking about how Alito's the kind of guy you meet in your "local hardware store."

What? To enter a backroom and talk about frisking 10 year-olds?

It's that same "a great guy to have a beer with" garbage. WTF does that have to do with a SC seat? Go ahead and hire him to mow your lawn if you want, Thune.

I really want to see some of our senators stand up and start reading the minds of the Repubs and saying things like, "I know that Senator <insert name here> really wants to just bend over and take it from the President, but, because he can't do that, he's saying he'll vote for A-lee-toh instead."

I'm getting really freaking tired of all these Repubs trying to say they know why Kennedy or Kerry or *ANYONE ELSE* said anything they did.

James Carville and Mary Matalin? They sure have the practice.

Including Coulter would be like inviting Charles Manson to your PTA meetings. You would want to get someone who is at least a little bit funny, and she's not. She's not going to come to terms with anybody. See, she's made a career of not getting along with people. She intentionally comes up with the most outrageous things she can. That's because she really has nothing else to say.

I wouldn't watch if she were on.
