Because he lost the election in 2004. He says Kerry should go fishing. Apparently Jack is furious that Kerry spoke about Iraq/Bush and made a gaffe.

9. Is Cafferty supposed to be newsman or a commentator
I really don't know. But you can guess the subtext of the question.

6. Well, Jack, John Kerry has something for you:
<snip>

I think Americans are sick and tired of this game. These Republicans are afraid to stand up and debate a real veteran on this topic. And they're afraid to debate -- you know, they want to debate straw men because they're afraid to debate real men.

Well, we're going to have a real debate in this country about this policy. The bottom line is: These Republicans want to distort this policy. And, this time, it won't work because we are going to stay in their face with the truth.

And no Democrat is going to be bullied by these people, by these kinds of attacks that have no place in American politics. It's time to set our policy correct.

8. Cafferty, semi-Republican, is hoping Dems win.
Just to punish Republicans.

So don't look at this as anti-Kerry sentiment; its more ANGER at Kerry putting a dent in Dem chances.

His anger showed how truly strong his support for a Democratic win is in this election.

20. I just sent Jack this
Jack,

Kerry has every right to speak about any topic he wants. If you have been listening to the speeches that he has been making over the last , oh, even 4 years, you were hear nothing different than what you heard from his press conference today. Instead of verbally spanking Kerry, you should be standing up behind him for finally saying what the majority of us out here in the nooks and crannies of the country are thinking. Bush may not be an idiot, but he sure plays one every time he speaks. Perhaps if the "media" had spent a bit more time talking about the "gaffes" that Bush has made over the last 5 plus years, we would be looking at a very different state of our union now.

Has Bush managed to lower your expectations of his so low that breathing is all that is necessary for him to be our "leader" these days? Yet, Kerry makes a statement that anyone with two good synapses knows was intended to be about Bush and everyone appears to faint? What, the stupid acting guy with all the power gets a pass but the intelligent thinking guy gets the shaft?

Enough Jack. Enough. Those of us out here are not stupid enough to fall for this spin anymore.

15. I think the "gaffe" is that he worded his joke in such a way that people who
aren't paying attention or who want to misconstrue what he said can say that he was insulting the troops. Had he worded it a lttle better he could have left no room for that, even though everyone knows what he meant.

16. I tend to think it's going to work in the Dems favor. Kerry's response puts the focus
on Bush's failed foreign policies and the Repugs stupid games of not dealing with the real issues, just looking for something with which to slam somebody.

14. I'm pissed too
And yes, like it or not, he IS associated with failure.

Old George gets a vacation from IraqNam because Kerry had to open his trap.

I love dems who do everything they can to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

17. Funny that's how I see george. As a symbol of failure who takes office
by STEALING IT! Oh and george likes to fish and he lies about the size of his catch, too! george is the MISERABLE FAILURE!

And Jack, george is STUPID! and that's no gaffe! Also, if Kerry did lose the election in 2004, it was through republican election fraud! :grr:  :banghead: :argh:

18. I'll give Jack a pass on this judgement
He'll see just how disgusting the Repigs are when they take the bait and actually turn the Election into more about the war than they wanted.

If Jack thinks the Repigs can attack a vet who has stood with the troops for over 30 years, then maybe I need to look again at where Jack's roots are...

But I don't want Robin Williams for president. That's a movie. I can tell the difference.

22. John Kerry is a United States Senator and a Viet Nam War veteran
He's been reelected twice since his initial win in 1984. Evidently, his constituents believe he must be doing something right.

Senator Kerry also received the Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts for acts of bravery performed during that hellacious conflict known as The Viet Nam War.

Hardly a "failure" in most people's eyes.

23. I like Jack
However, he's off base on this one. I imagine Cafferty's mad cause Kerry outdid him on the pissed off old man thing.

"I apologize to no one for my criticism of the President and his broken policy. If anyone owes our troops in the fields an apology, it is the president and his failed team."

"I'm sick and tired of a whole bunch of Republican attacks, most of which come from people who never wore the uniform and never had the courage to stand up and go to war themselves."

"This is the classic GOP playbook," Kerry said in a harshly worded statement. "I'm sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did. I'm not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium."

If I were Jack, I'd be jealous too. :)

27. How many oratory gaffes has Bush made in the last 6 years??
For cripes sake, Bush can hardly say "Good Morning" without mangling his words. For them to be wigging out over Kerry's gaffe is so hypocritical its pathetic.

John Kerry has every right to voice his opinion on anything he damn well pleases so Jack Cafferty can just get over himself already.
