McCain campaigning against Duckworth: "Many (soldiers) have lost limbs, you know!"
"I go out to Walter Reed quite often and see these brave young soldiers who have served and sacrificed so much. Many of them have lost limbs, as you know. And it's a very sad thing to see. But at the same time it's very uplifting.

John McCain said that while campaigning against Tammy Duckworth, who lost both her legs fighting in Iraq.

Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 11:33 AM by EVDebs
""When asked this week on CNN how long the U.S. military is likely to remain in Iraq, Senator McCain replied "probably" 10 or 20 years. "That's not so bad," ...""

Not so bad ? Is this guy nutz ?

39. It's uplifting for him to see it
It affirms to him that, even though he was a guest in the Hanoi Hilton for five years, he could have received much worse.

OTOH, I'm fairly certain that the troops he's lifting himself up with really appreciate the gesture. :sarcasm:

50. He's talking about himself
Because for John McCain, it's uplifting to see these brave young people who have sacrificed their limbs & health in the service of our country, blah, blah, blah. He's just self-centered & is only looking at it in how it affects him. I'm not sure being in Walter Reed is so uplifting for the paralyzed soldiers.

The only 'uplifting' I can think it would be is the assistance they need now in their mobility... :grr:

McCain loves (cough cough) vets provided they stay out of the press - unless they are posing with Bush, that is

I know I heard a "but" at the end of this statement, "Many (soldiers) have lost limbs, you know!"

51. OMG, I was scrolling through this thread hoping that someone
else brought this little fact up and I wouldn't have to be the one to do it. Cowardly, isn't it? Because apparently you, like me, remember all the talk about McCain when he was released from by the Viet Cong. He was in relatively good health. Much, much better health than a lot of the guys that came back. And so many who were captured died. Obviously he fared waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy better than those poor souls.

True or not, he should know first hand how it feels to have people talk about war wounds.

What a pondscum sucking asshole.

that doesn't surprise me, in that Roskam is the epitome of the unctuous sleazebucket, but for the very conservative Trib to endorse a democrat in Henry Hyde's district is stunning to me

see Tammy's final ad here; she needs help....the pug ads against here in the Chicago area are beyond vicious:

McCain is insane. I'm not an expert, but it's the only answer that makes any sense. But his ravings caused me to notice a race I hadn't heard much about. I'm from Ohio - we're a little busy with our own races, maybe you've heard about them. ;-)

So...long story short, I decided to give Tammy some of my cash. Looks like Sherrod Brown and Ted Strickland aren't going to need it quite as much as I originally thought.

Thanks for the tip, McCain!

76. Soldiers with limbs blown off is uplifting?!?!?!
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 10:35 PM by TheFarseer
Isn't this worse than what Kerry said? You know, alot of people have been tortured, John McCain. . . . . . . . . . I'm just saying

I guess it could be uplifting to see them forge ahead and not be detoured from their dreams, by say, running for Congress. Of course, he campaigns against those sort of people so what does that say?
