1. Some DU'ers still don't get it - today was a textbook case
Edited on Tue Oct-31-06 06:06 PM by emulatorloo
It would have taken the media about 2 secs to cut through the willful ignorance/misinterpretation of the Repub screeching heads. And Kerry obliged them with some good soundbytes today in his press conference. But they won't show it.

However, many DU'ers still want to blame the Democrat

10. But if DEMS wont SAY the media is biased- then we have 2 problems, not one.
If the DEMS wont SAY that they are not being given equal time or that they are "not allowed" on certain shows- then we have 2 problems, not one.

Before everyone attacks me- all I am saying is that elected DEMS need to talk about media bias as much as we do...

8. "they wont show it" But they DO show DEMS on those interview shows
They would be forced to "show it" if DEMS with media access went on TV shows tonight & this week and gave the facts.

If DEMS are being denied access, they need to say so- it's easy- like this:

"Actually Wolf, Democrats did adress that issue- we even had a press confernece today, but your network reported a car chase instead. Why do you say we have not adressed this when you knew we had a press conference on it but refused to show it?"

Or (While on the Daily Show or KO for instance)

"Thanks for having me on John/KO, I tried to get on the Wolf Blitzer show this week to discuss this important issue, but they had Brad Pitt on instead. I was even told that they did not want that issue discussed on their network- scary, huh? I felt like I was in communist Russia or something- so much for the free press, huh?"

Sure-We can blame the media, but we cant use it as an excuse for every time we fail to discuss an issue when we have a chance to.

We need to recognize that the media is biased, but I am against the idea that we dont hold DEMS accountable for not fighting & discussing media bias in a way that the public sees it.

13. Kerry should call those shows directly and demand to be put
on the air to respond. His staff is watching the coverage -- just have the phone numbers handy and say: "CNN? I have Senator Kerry for you..." CNN puts up a graphic and Kerry can talk directly to Wolf or whoever is on the air.

2. When will elected DEMS acknowledge this to the public?
When will elected DEMS - even with a wink- even suggest that this is so?

I'm ready to see elected DEMS correct reporters:

"Ah- excuse me- that is not true- allow me to do your job for you and report the actual facts for a change- here is what really happened..."

Or-

"Hold it Wolf- you are repeating GOP lies as fact again-I have DVD with what was really said that day (holds up DVD)- will you play it for your audience or will you allow that lie to stand?"

Stuff like that- I want elected Dems to let the media know that they know- and that they plan on letting everyone else know.

6. Why oh why can't the dims get their message out?
It's a mystery. The privatized military industrial rightwing nutjob complex mouthpiece hasn't changed at all. They brought us bush, they brought us bush's war, and they're getting ready to tell us next week that Murca voted to stay they GOP course because it's going so well.

I hear a few finally did so over the weekend.

But why have mass demonstrations in Washington DC??

Why not outside CNN HQ?

12. I would settle for elected DEMS calling them out to their faces on TV.
When they lie- that is when the DEM guest ssays:

"Hold it-you are repeating a GOP lie as fact once again- allow me to do your job for you andpresent the real facts to your audience..."

Stuff like that.

I think this is more of a job for DEMS with media access than for people w/o it...

14. and knowing that, we shouldn't give them ammo right before (s)election
now Repugs have yet another smokescreen to use if they steal the election. I've been watching CNN, and they've been full blast Anti Kerry. I can't even begin to imagine how Fox news is spinning this.

15. who gave them ammunition? That is nonsense
The repug outrage machine is in overdrive. They took something and distorted it and lied about it. Nobody "gave" them anything. This is thier despicable tactic to distort whatever is said, and the media just eats it up.

I am glad Kerry called them out today in his press conference:

---

This is a textbook Republican campaign strategy: Try to change the topic; try to make someone else the issue; try to make something else said the issue, not the policy, not their responsibility.

Well, everybody knows it's not working this time, and I'm not going to stand around and let it work. If anyone thinks that a veteran, someone like me, who's been fighting my entire career to provide for veterans, to fight for their benefits, to help honor what their service is, if anybody thinks that a veteran would somehow criticize more than 140,000 troops serving in Iraq and not the president and his people who put them there, they're crazy.

It's just wrong. This is a classic GOP textbook Republican campaign tactic.

I'm sick and tired of a bunch of despicable Republicans who will not debate real policy, who won't take responsibility for their own mistakes, standing up and trying to make other people the butt of those mistakes.

I'm sick and tired of a whole bunch of Republican attacks, most of which come from people who never wore the uniform and never had the courage to stand up and go to war themselves.
