They need to understand how they are being manipulated by the rightwing against there own self-interest.

Public education IS a failure because kids at the High School level are not taught Labor History and it's role in the economic development of the US.

There is a need for political education at the High School level. To teach them what is meant by "left-wing", "rightwing", fascism, socialism,communism, capitalism, imperialism.

In short, their textbooks should be Howard Zinn's "A Peoples History Of The United States" and "Declaration's of Independence: Examining American Ideology"
