"Over 500 people have 'SIGNED UP' to hear Laura Bush campaign"

At least 500 people have signed up to attend a campaign event featuring First Lady Laura Bush on Wednesday in Radcliff, a spokesman for U.S. Rep. Ron Lewis said.

The public event is part of a multi-state campaign swing that Bush is making on behalf of Republican candidates in the final week before next Tuesday’s midterm elections. She’s also visiting Ohio and Tennessee this week.

Lewis, R-2nd District, is being challenged by Democrat Mike Weaver. The district includes a small portion of Jefferson County.

QUESTION: How did these 500 people 'sign up'? Is this event open to the public? And who is footing the bill for this multi-state campaign romp?

1. Does she ever take a good picture?
I mean I know that we love putting up the pictures of those we hate looking stupid - fair enough, since they do it to us - but I've never seen a picture of her where she didn't look kind of scary. I've seen pictures of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld looking normal, but not her.

3. thats kind of funny, she was campaigning here in
N.H., and they were saying on NPR that you could get a ticket (there were lots of free seats) in exchange for working the republican phone banks for awhile-

I almost considered doing it, and then asking people if they really understood what they were voting for-...... I'm sure I'd have gotten escorted out pretty quickly- plus, I don't think I could have sat through a talk by "dicktor Laura."

5. Would that I lived there to see how "free and open" it is.
As the NH poster above pointed out, up here you had to work the GOP phone banks to get a seat to see her spout off.
