Know why the Republicans are so desperate?
They have been able to use the power they garnered since 1994 to hugely enrich themselves at the expense of American taxpayers and to ensure an almost slave labor force to keep their corporations, nannies, chauffers, and gardners in tact. They have been able to thwart the Constitution and the freedoms it represents and turn this nation into a virtual dictatorship. That is why they are fighting so hard to win in order preserve the new "reality" they have created. They own the all branches of government including the regulatory agencies whose leaders feed at the Republican troughs, the courts, the laws, and the military and the Christian right. They own all these because they are in power. When that power is gone they fear that they will not be able to continues to make the millions and millions to continue to pay off who they need to pay off to remain in power...the vicious circle. This fear is what drives the power brokers of the Republican elites. They have successfully convinced a sizeable portion of the citizentry thru fear of others and divisiveness disquised as patriotism that their hope and lies with Republicans although most of these people are poor, hard-working, uneducated, bigots who fear people of color more than they fear losing their jobs or not having adequate health care.

These people are really scared shitless and I would not be surprised if there are not incidents of violence at some voting places. The stuff that happened in FL in 2000 will be peanuts compared to what might take place across the red states if it looks like the Republicans are going to lose. Hate ads like those made against Harold Ford in TN no doubt have already sent a few dittoheads over the edge. I hope I am wrong, but I really have some strong fears about this that I can't shake.

Just thinking about what these people have done already through 2000, 2002, and 2004 is a demonstration of the lengths to which they will go.

Nothing is ever enough for them, but getting crushed by superior forces is their apotheosis.
