San Diego ROV says that absentee voters voted on touch screens!
Edited on Tue Oct-31-06 09:15 PM by calipendence
I drove to the San Diego ROV office this morning to turn in my absentee ballot, and THIS is the "I Voted" sticker that they gave me, when I handed it to them!

This is definitely a Mikel Haas creation as it says San Diego County on it too. Brad Friedman already said in another thread that he's pushing his poll workers to NOT recommend paper ballots at the precincts. WHY is he pushing Diebold so much to the point of saying that even absentee ballots are being entered in via Diebold?

This guy is a Nazi!

1. The difference this time is that there is a paper record of each vote.
After you vote, it prints a receipt of what you voted, and you can view the receipt but not touch it, and it goes into the machine and is saved in case there is a recount.

2. But I'm voting ABSENTEE, not through optical scan or TSX...

How can I verify what gets entered into the machine? The verification SHOULD be my absentee ballot.

4. They're not going to throw away your absentee ballot. I think you should
call the San Diego County Registrar of Voters and ask them how you can verify that your absentee ballot gets entered.

3. How many times do people have to be told that it's the COUNTING of
votes that matters? NOT proof that you did. A receipt is practically useless.

5. An e-vote is a vote for Diebold! A vote for crooks and their crooked

machines, and their crooked President in the White House. The CEO of Diebold raised hundreds of thousands for Bush/Cheney. And an e-vote on ES&S machines is just as bad--it's as much as a vote for capital punishment for homosexuals. That's who funded ES&S (a spinoff of Diebold)--rightwing billionaire Howard Ahmanson, who also gave a million dollars to the extremist 'christian' Chalcedon Foundation--and that's what they believe. Betcha didn't know what you are endorsing by e-voting! Yeah, give these nutballs billions of our dollars in e-voting contracts. That's the right thing to do, election officials!

Sorry, but whoever is saying vote on the machines, and don't vote by Absentee Ballot is wrong. The Absentee Ballot vote, which is huge all over, is a PROTEST AGAINST THE MACHINES! It is a BOYCOTT! And if enough people do it, we'll have a paper ballot system by default--and then we can turn our energies to getting rid of the central electronic tabulators (or at least get a hand count and a posting of results before any electronics are used--that would disable the riggability of the electronic system).

Some election reformers don't realize the gift that ordinary people are giving them, by voting Absentee in such big numbers. It's up to 50% and 60% in some places!--and greatly increased all over, in direct proportion to the cancerous spread of these election theft machines. People DON'T TRUST THE MACHINES, their big "vote of no confidence" in the e-voting machines is giving us the clout we need--facts to throw in the face of election officials--to force reform.

DON'T VOTE ON the machines, if you can help it, at this point. But DO vote, however you can. Turnout can beat the machine programming, in some cases.

And DO spend some good citizenship time at your registrar's office demanding a hand-count and posting of the results of Absentee Ballots (and any other paper ballots), before any electronics are involved, NOW.

An Absentee Ballot is a protest! We must try to insure the integrity of these protest ballots. An Absentee Ballot is also your ONLY guarantee that you will be able to vote in this election, in the case of "machine breakdown" (by accident or design--"machine breakdowns" have become pandemic). If you vote by AB, YOU won't be stuck in a long line. YOU won't be forced to vote on a "provisional" ballot. But there ARE problems with how AB votes are handled and counted--which make AB votes about on a par with an optiscan vote, as to "safety." Are we going to sit still for this--and go vote on the election theft machines, like sheep to slaughter? Well, a whole lot of people are saying "No!" They want a paper ballot, hand-counted, and an AB vote is the closest they can come.

An Absentee Ballot is the best vote--because it is a protest against the machines, a guarantee against "machine breakdown," and a much safer vote than a touchscreen vote, even with a "paper trail" (--if the "paper trail" has no legal standing as a ballot, then it is next to worthless in a recount). Next safest is optiscan, if you don't mind voting on their cootie machines (or have no choice). Avoid voting on a "Provisional" ballot if possible (easily tossable ballot).

Good luck to us all!
