Attempted "Defeatism" Is a Sham; We Have At Least 80,000 Du'ers Proud Of
Kerry.

To the rest? I have a feeling there's nothing anyone can do to satisfy ya anyway, so good luck.

To the 80,000? Thank you for your constant efforts and continuing the righteous battle that we are engaged in, while staying strong and positive.

To President Kerry? Thank you. You Rock.

4. I Have A Feeling That If I Responded With a Litany of Valid Reasons In
defense, you would just continue to ask why a brazillion times anyway and still not ever be satisfied. So I will choose then not to. It will save us both a bunch of time.

:hi:

5. Stop Making Sense.
And to those upthread, it's simple math. They have the votes. Recognizing facts for what they are is not defeatism.

7. Exactly.
Being able to count to 60 does not make one a defeatist, it makes one a realist.

9. Where Are These Magical Votes You Speak Of? Did The Vote Happen Already
and DU missed it somehow? Did it take place by secret ballot in a secret room somewhere?

It IS defeatism, PERIOD.

Quitting the game and going home in the 8th inning shows an attitude of defeatism, any way you spin it.

Don't tell me about reality. The reality is the vote for cloture doesn't happen until Monday. So until then, we would be far better served by having DU'ers en masse motivated to continue speaking out, calling their sens and stepping up the efforts rather than issuing declarations of weakness and defeatism while serving a purpose to demotivate the masses from doing anything in the most precious of time we have left.

If fighting the Alito nomination is truly the ideal, than anyone believing in it should put every last effort they can into convincing our Senators that fillibustering is the right thing to do. That would be being productive. Giving up early and attempting to take others down too would seem irresponsible and completely against the ideal set forth above.

Thanks.

8. There's a bipartisan delegation over there.
That's why Frist isn't calling for cloture before Monday.

10. No, it has more to do with Senate rules
and any time table he's worked out with Reid.

6. We have to accept that when we have no power, we will be cutting our
losses. That is what it is like when their are nefarious political types in power. That is what it means.

The trick is to keep on an even keel - all the while grieving (crying, going through anger & all the stages - till you get to a new understanding of how imperfect the world is and that some bad luck creeps in the WH is longer and worse than other types of bad luck.

Then you renew your comittment to fight for a just world.
